Starting as a charity event in 2012 to raise money for beneficiaries under TOUCH Community Services, Ultimate Hawker Fest showcases some of Singapore’s finest street food while participating in a good cause.
The festival enables hawkers to create the best possible versions of their dishes, using the finest ingredients. In previous years, there were dishes like Boston Lobster Laksa and grain-fed Beef Ribs for Ngou Lam Beef Kway Teow.
Back for the third year running, there will be more than 20 chefs – hand-picked by popular food bloggers Maureen Ow, Ian Low, and Derrick Tan – coming together to create the perfect menu. We hear they are doing this pro-bono too, so much respect to these bloggers!
There will be three food zones this year, the Ultimate Original Recipe, Ultimate Pursuit of Happiness, and Ultimate Ingredients. Ultimate Ingredients consists of hawkers who have added special ingredients into traditional hawker fare, while Ultimate Original Recipe celebrates pioneer generation hawkers. In contrast, Ultimate Pursuit of Happiness features individuals who left their jobs in other sectors to pursue their passion for food in the hawker industry.
Some of the food featured in the zones will be the famous 100 days corn fed Anxin Chicken Rice and Rong Cheng Bak Kut Teh.
Date: 22 November 2014, Saturday
Time: 11am to 5pm
Venue: Suntec Convention Centre Halls 401 and 402
Price: Free
While entry to the festival itself is free, the sampling of the dishes is not. All proceeds from the festival will go to TOUCH’s 32,000 beneficiaries. You can buy coupons here at $50 a booklet.
