Crowned as one of the oldest mosques in Colombo, the Jami Ul-Alfar Mosque is known for its iconic red and white checkerboard design. Beyond the eye-catching colours, the mosque also features intricate carvings that add to the beauty of the building. Snap a photo or two while you’re here – but remember to be respectful as it is a place of worship.
Head to the Lotus Tower during sunset – you won’t regret it. The tower is the tallest skyscraper in Sri Lanka, and its design is inspired by the lotus flower which symbolises purity. Tickets go from LKR500 for adults and LKR200 for kids. Once you’re done admiring the view, head over to the revolving restaurant in the tower for some chow.

If getting massages in JB are a must for you, then pampering yourself with an Ayurveda massage in Sri Lanka ought to be part of your to-do list while you’re there. Unlike most massages, the Ayurvedic massage typically involves 2 masseuses who will work together in a synced rhythm.
You’ll notice that this relaxing form of massage takes on a more holistic approach. A variety of warm medicated oils, and massage techniques are used to relieve physical stress and relax your nervous system.
Ask anyone who’s been to Colombo and they’ll tell you to visit the Pettah Market. This bustling area is where you can shop for anything and everything. We’re talking clothes, fresh produce, homeware, accessories, and children’s toys.
It’s usually pretty crowded, but definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area. A trip here will allow you to fully immerse in the hustle and bustle of local everyday life.
Address: Keyzer Street, Colombo 01100, Sri Lanka
Opening hours: Sat-Wed 8.30am-7pm | Thu-Fri 9am-8pm
History buffs can make a pitstop at the Colombo National Museum to learn about Sri Lanka’s rich history. There are over 1,000 sculptures, paintings, and artefacts to browse – including a magnificent throne room. You’ll get to admire traditional Sri Lankan masks, colourful Chinese ceramics, and even a whole room filled with mainstone carvings too.
If you’re intending to thoroughly enjoy the entire museum, give yourself around 2 hours to cover everything. Do note that photography might not be allowed in the museum, so appreciate the artwork with just your eyes and not your camera lens.

Grab a snack and head to the largest park in Colombo, Viharamahadevi Park, for a chill picnic. There’s plenty of room for everyone here so grab a shaded spot and yap away with your friends. Don’t be surprised if you spot wildlife around the park. Sightings of parakeets, herons, bats, and kingfishes have been reported – some of which aren’t common animals in Singapore.
You’ll see the famed giant golden Buddha statue, idyllic water fountains, and a children’s playground too. There’s even a skateboarding area if you want to whizz around.
