The National Day Parade has always been a spectacle with vibrant performances, live fireworks, and a huge crowd. After a 2-year break, it’s now back with a bang.
Not only is the NDP Show taking place at The Float @ Marina Bay, but there are also carnivals and fireworks in the heartlands so everyone can catch a good view of the fireworks.
The carnivals are ticketed events and will be held from 4:00pm-9:00pm at the following locations:

It’s hard to find anyone who doesn’t like light installations. That said, this year’s rendition of the Singapore Night Festival will not disappoint. Head down to Bugis and Bras Basah district to feast your eyes on a whopping 14 installations, plus 6 mesmerising projections. There’ll also be an array of street performances and food and retail stores to keep the festival buzzing.
Fans of local horror or mystery stories can also drop by to watch Cathay Hotel: The Curse of The Missing Red Shoe. It’s a theatrical play that compiles Singapore’s scariest films into a single setting.

Films by the Fort is playing host to a series of critically-acclaimed Hollywood films accompanied by live music at Fort Canning’s newly refurbished amphitheatre.
With a wide seating capacity, the event has many good spots for you to sit back and enjoy films such as Forrest Gump, Everything Everywhere All at Once, and The Survivor from 10th-21st Aug.
You won’t get peckish here as the event has mains, snacks, drinks, and desserts well-stocked . Classic movie-night grub such as burgers, pizza, and popcorn will also be available. To get comfy, purchase an inflatable pillow for $16 ($14 for advanced purchase).

The Singapore Art Museum has an art installation that resembles a Chinese opera stage at the SAM Tanjong Pagar Distripark. Decked out in space age silver foil wrappings and sci-fi looking lights, the Wayang Spaceship looks like a piece right out of the Men In Black films.
The setup features neon light tubes, reflective surfaces, and an interactive projection of a Chinese scholar-warrior on a big screen. That means you can expect to walk away with some truly psychedelic photos at the end of the night.

Fitspo folk, this one’s for you: If you’re looking for something to challenge yourself then turn your attention to this year’s Pocari Sweat Run at the Kallang Practice Track.
With a distance of 2.4km, the On Ground Race is a good opportunity to see if you have what it takes to claim that coveted Commando Gold in IPPT. There is also a free Virtual Race being held throughout the month of August where you can clock in various distances from 2.4km-24km. Just use running apps like Strava or Garmin to submit your timings.

From what we’ve seen in the likes of Disney film Coco, Mexican culture is both eclectic and energetic. No surprise then, that it’s the centre of Gardens By The Bay’s new Hanging Gardens exhibition.
Located at the Flower Dome, the exhibit comprises a sea of florals that personify the colours Mexico – perfect for some pseudo holiday photos. See if you can spot an Aztec snake with 2 heads, or even a Mayan pyramid alongside handmade medallions handcrafted by the Mexican community in Singapore.

SingPAW Weekend at South Beach Avenue is the one-stop event for all things pet-related. Hosted by charity organisation Hope for Animals (HFA), pet lovers can look forward to adoption drives, bird demonstrations, and photo and retail booths.
You and your furkids can also take part in the largest organised formation of the letters “SG57” in an attempt to break the Singapore Guinness Book of Records.

Set in Singapore, the 2.5-hour film examines a schoolteacher’s strained relationship with her husband due to her inability to conceive, and her seeking solace in a unique friendship with a student she grew close to.
Nominated for 6 Golden Horse Awards in Taiwan, this film is emotionally tumultuous and reflects on how relationships can form with the unlikeliest of people as other existing relationships falter. Just note that this movie is rated M18, so maybe leave the kiddos behind for this one.
