Unwinding at a whimsical tea party is an Alice In Wonderland dream come true. But as all of us living on of this equatorial little red dot may realise, it takes preparation and sometimes, a whole lot of luck to have any outdoor picnic go without a hitch.
Torrential rains and overwhelming heat from the equatorial sun won’t leave your plans for the day cancelled with The Secret Patio’s limited-time garden party. Running only till 12th September 2021, the pop-up is where you can organise a comfortable picnic without a sweat – literally.

Tucked away in a shophouse in Duxton Hill, The Secret Patio has converted its wedding and event venue space into a temporary picnic-themed cafe complete with all-day breakfast, mains, and beverages – including tea and wine for the day drinkers among us.

Picnic mats are laid out on the floor with cushions and pillows for a cosy mealtime with sunflower shrubs placed between each mat for a little extra privacy. It doesn’t hurt that it serves as a chio backdrop for your next IG post as well.

No worries if you’ve arrived in a miniskirt or dress – dining tables and chairs are also available so you can enjoy your meal without having to strategically place a bag on your lap.

In the floral fantasyland, dig into dishes priced from a surprisingly affordable $15. Sourdough fans can head straight for All I Avo Wanted ($15) or Into The Thick Of It ($16) topped with smashed avocado and sauteed mushrooms respectively. Pasta, steak and breakfast platters are some of the other dishes available.

Mad Hatter would be disappointed if you didn’t order a cup of tea to go with your meal. At $7/pot, sip on Earl Grey Lavender, Hanami (cherry blossom), White Gingerlily or Nymph Of The Nile Tea with your tea party crew for the day.

For tipples instead, there’s also wine with the standard reds ($15) and whites ($15) alongside house pours like rum and gin. The adventurous can also try their Chrysanthemum Special, which is off the menu but can be requested.
