The Falling Hierarchy of Self Through Uniforms

This is purely based on the changes of my uniforms since I was wee little to my still wee self.

—–

We started out as being interesting. Checkered shirts, skirts and dresses. Running, roaming and playing. Colours were being experimented. (See example below) But we didn’t care. We had odd bowl-like haircuts anyway. Style was no issue to a kid. We were interesting!

Then came the pinafores, the ties, the multi-layered cloths that suffocated the cold air from all around us. It was to show how we are all now being put into a machine of to-be-a-world-class-leader-of-tomorrow. No kidding, that was the slogan of our school. So we were ready for sports, debates, dancing, singapore workout sessions, running at any time of the day! All you do is some magic to your uniform and voila! You are now ready for action.

P.S. That is not me, but we all look alike anyway. It’s a sample of me. Minus the head part.

Now we move into the ultimate deterioration of self. We are put into the most plain uniform possible. Now that we have reached all roundedness-ness, it was time to focus on the mind and nothing else. It is so dull that I don’t even have more to say.

This seems to be a rather depressing and cynical post. It is. I was never too fond of schools. I never even completed the last leg of the race.

Yet, despite it all, I actually prefer uniforms. Because the practical side of myself says, I don’t have to consider what to wear everyday and I can save my money because I’m not buying too many clothes! 😀

Really though, the uniform represented the suppression of ideas and creativity. Thus, my little rant.

Thank you for reading.
