Things that come to mind when the word marathon is mentioned include the roadside pit stops, the lengthy 42km run and, of course, crossing the checkered finish line. But now you can spice up your runs by taking part in Swissôtel’s annual Vertical Marathon that’ll be sure to level up your marathon game.
With a whole lotta of attractive prizes from $1,000 in cash to relaxing staycations in the hotel’s spanking new rooms, here’s what you can expect from one of the most challenging stair-based marathon races out there.
Runners can look forward to conquering the Swissôtel The Stamford, standing tall at 226 metres. Climb up a gruelling 73 stories as you compete to claim victory as top dog.

The most popular race category, TripleFit Rise & Run with the Sun (non-competitive), is suited for first-time runners looking for a taste of the 1,336-staired challenge. Set off at the break of dawn – 6.15AM to be exact, and be greeted by a 360-degree view of the gorgeous sunrise at the helipad finish line.

For the seasoned runners, take part in the Men’s & Women’s Open category as you battle with athletes from around the world in an exhilarating race that will get the heart thumping.
You could also up the ante and take part in the Under Armour® Vertical Challenge (non-competitive) that includes HIIT drills before setting off and just before you reach the helipad. Hint: Get ready for workouts like mountain climbers and the agility ladder!

If you’re afraid of tackling the challenge alone, you can sign-up as a pair. Solidify your friendship and compete alongside your running buddy in the Buddies and Besties Challenge. Victory will be that much sweeter when you can share it with a friend.

Other than the epic bragging rights that come along with completing the race, the fastest of each competitive category gets to take home attractive prizes like a staycation at the luxurious Swissôtel The Stamford, and F&B vouchers* including 20% off SKAI and $10 off The Stamford Brasserie.

For the main competitive event, on top of a slew of exciting products, winners of the Men’s and Women’s Open get to walk away with a $1,000 cash prize and placing medals, while second and third place runners get $800 and $500 respectively.
