Judging by the number of burger chains and listicles about the best burgers in Singapore, it’s clear that burgers are a favourite of many here. But this foodie paradise holds many burger secrets, the best-kept of which are only discoverable by true burger lovers – for example, the sweet burgers hidden in menus across the island.
The next time you’re out to satisfy that burger craving, switch things up by picking a sweet one instead. To help narrow down your search, here are some of the yummiest ones we’ve found:
Of all the burgers in this list, the Donut Burger ($13) at Oh My Tian ranks #1 in terms of adventurousness. A bold combination of a chicken or beef patty with sugar-laden donut halves, this sinful creation is also topped with sauteed mushrooms and a dollop of BBQ sauce.
A donut with meat may sound strange, but this is one union that’s highly gushed about. The donut halves are deep-fried to fluffiness, making this fusion of flavors off-the-charts yummy.

Just as Elvis Presley is ‘The King of Rock and Roll’, the Elvis Burger ($11) at Fatboy’s is the king of all PB&J sandwiches. With a savoury pork patty, grilled banana and generous slathering of peanut butter between honey oat buns, each creamy bite will confirm plus chop satisfy all your cravings at once.
Fun fact: Elvis was crazy over PB and banana sandwiches – no doubt, this is one sandwich ‘The King’ himself would have loved.

Having heard my friends rave about the waffle-and-meat combinations at Wowffle Burger, I had high expectations for my virgin visit there – and the Salted Egg Yolk Chicken Burger ($12.80) I tried didn’t disappoint. Between two crispy charcoal waffles was a piece of juicy chicken thigh, neither element overpowering the other. End result: mindblowing.
If you’re not a fan of chicken, their extensive menu also has other waffle burger variants like beef, pork, or crab (from $8.80 – $15.80). I’m looking forward to trying their crab burger next – fried soft shell crab with homemade fish roe sauce sounds irresistible.

Griddy prides itself as a gourmet waffle bar, serving up sweet and savoury waffles in flavours that will satisfy all palates. If you’re spoilt for choice, go for the classic Griddy Burger ($9.90). You can’t possibly go wrong with a juicy beef patty, mushrooms, and cheese kiapped in a waffle.
But be warned: those who love that shiok feeling of sinking their teeth into a perfect crispy waffle might be disappointed.

Don’t judge a burger by its cover, because this Duck Confit Burger (1 for $6, 2 for $10) by The Ugly Duckling tastes much better than it looks. This winning combination includes shredded duck leg, cheddar, and caramelised pineapple – all drizzled with kecap manis (sweet soya sauce) before being stuffed between brioche.
Note: Ugly Duckling is a mobile food stall, but you can check out their Facebook page for updates on their location.

Yet another highly-raved waffle burger is the Revelry Signature Burffle ($18) – a typical beef burger with Belgian waffles for buns. While switching out bread for waffles might seem mild compared to other burgers with outrageous toppings and sauces, this simple change still brings novelty in taste and texture – without OD-ing on flavour.
With waffles that are perfectly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, we can see why the Burffle is one of Revelry’s star dishes.

Working Title’s ice cream burgers ($9) will satisfy even the sweetest of tooths. Choose from chocolate or vanilla ice cream, encased within a fried brioche bun. Soft and buttery, you’ll love how its light sweetness goes well with the ice cream.
This might be slightly jelak if you’re not into sweet things. Seeing how much sugar and calories this contains, it should be a treat saved just for cheat days!

Sinseh: The Grocery sounds more like an atas supermarket than a quaint cafe, but names are deceiving. Grab the bakery-cafe’s Bagel Ice Cream Sandwich ($12) – an upgraded version of Singapore’s traditional ice cream with bread. It’s a scoop of gourmet ice cream between two bagels, sprinkled with toppings like apple chips and walnuts.
Chewy and doughy, the bagels don’t turn soggy from the melted ice cream – so with every bite, you’ll enjoy a morsel of lightly toasted bagel complementing cold, sweet goodness.

Burgers are a go-to food for many situations: busy days at work, crazy midnight adventures, and bad days that find you desperately craving some comfort food. Like many others here and around the world, I can never resist something as convenient and satisfying as a juicy burger stuffed with a myriad of flavours.
Instead of always sticking to the conventional savoury burger, try one of the sweet burgers on this list instead. The thought of it might put you off at first, but cast aside your reservations and take the plunge – you’ll realise that they’ll taste better than you expect, and you might just become addicted.
