Restaurants Never, Street Hawkers Forever!
Ipoh is surrounded by mountains. It is said that no matter where you stand and which direction you look, you’ll always be able to see the mountains in Ipoh. It is also said that Ipoh is full of beautiful girls with amazing skin thanks to the limestone-infused drinking water there.
Apart from that, Ipoh is also famous for its street food. From bean sprouts chicken to char kway teow, satay to Hakka mee, you’ll never run out of makan places here! We’ve compiled a list of 20 street food that you have to try when in the sleepy little town of Ipoh.
The name ‘Bean Sprout Chicken’ often confuses, leading people to think that those two ingredients are jointly used in a dish. In fact, the chicken and bean sprout are cooked separately in two equally mouth-watering dishes.
The steamed chicken skin is smooth and chewy, while the flesh is tender yet firm; whereas the bean sprouts are fat and crunchy. You can choose to have them with rice, or sweet and fresh kuey teow soup.
