If you’re not familiar with HDB Malls yet, they’re essentially heartland malls conveniently located in HDB neighbourhoods across Singapore. From 19th July onwards, 18 HDB malls will be hosting Sonic the Hedgehog events called Sonic’s Golden Ring Rush. At the time of publication, you can still catch activations happening at 12 HDB malls, happening on weekends from 26th July to 3rd August 2025.
In celebration of SG60 leading up to National Day, expect a multi-station mission filled with uniquely SG-themed games and activities, plus exclusive Sonic freebies to be won. There’ll also be a range of other family-friendly fun, including a bouncy castle, photo booth, arcade games, and even a meet-and-greet opportunity with a roving Sonic the Hedgehog mascot.
There are many fun happenings in store for you and the fam at the Sonic’s Golden Ring Rush event. Simply redeem a participation slip on-site using your ShopperLink account, the loyalty programme for HDB Malls.

With your participation slip in hand, make a beeline for the main activity zone. Here, you’ll find carnival games like ring toss and pong with a Singaporean twist in the spirit of National Day. Think Merlion Ring Toss and Supertree Pong, featuring miniature versions of the iconic Gardens by the Bay supertrees.
To test your agility, there’s a Sonic Hands station where you’ll have to catch falling rods mid-air as they descend – you might have seen this viral challenge on TikTok. We can’t think of a better game to see whether you’ve got Sonic-esque speedy reflexes!
Wrap things up with the National Treasure Hunt, where you’ll have to hunt for 6 different icons placed around each mall and stamp your participation slip to complete the full set.
Participants who complete all 4 activities will get to redeem an exclusive Sonic travel neck pillow, available in 4 different colours and featuring either Sonic, Tails, Amy Rose, or Dr Eggman. Rally your family and friends so you can score the full set together.
The travel neck pillow prize is guaranteed for all who finish the mission, while stocks last, so feel free to chill and complete the activity stations at a relaxed pace. But if you’re feeling competitive, channel your inner Sonic the Hedgehog and race through with lightning speed – you might just top the leaderboard. The top 3 fastest finishers at each HDB Mall event will win grocery vouchers worth S$100, S$80, and S$50 respectively.
There’s plenty of fun to be had while you wait for your turn at the activity stations. For starters, there’s a Sonic-themed inflatable castle where little ones get to bounce and hop to their hearts’ content.
Fans of the lovable blue hedgehog will be thrilled to have a Sonic meet-and-greet, where they’ll get to interact with a friendly roving mascot. A SEGA game console will also be set up, offering attendees of all ages a dose of old-school gaming fun.
To round off your day of adventure, swing by the photo booth for some snaps to remember Sonic’s Golden Ring Rush, complete with a colourful Sonic-themed photo strip.
