This Homegrown Photobooth Brand Has Just Opened A New Outlet At The Cathay, Featuring Vintage Themes

Solace Studios at The Cathay

Self-photo studios have been all the rage in Korea thanks to Insaeng-ne-cut, also known as Life4Cuts, the OG photobooth brand that had youths hooked.

Closer to home, most of us think of Solace Studios, known for its creative themes and affordable prices. They’ve just opened a new outlet at The Cathay, dedicated entirely to vintage-style photobooth themes, and offering unique keepsakes beyond the usual photo strips.

What is Solace Studios?

Solace Studios is an affordable self-photo booth brand founded in Singapore in 2022, with prices starting from just $10 for a standard session. Their booth concepts take inspiration from the trendy styles you’d usually see in Korea, so there’s no need to hop on a plane for a Seoul-style photo spot.

And if you’ve ever wandered through Haji Lane, you’ve probably spotted their largest and most popular outlet. It spreads across 2 levels and features a range of themes, including a laundromat-inspired one.

Now, with their newest and 20th outlet at The Cathay, you can dive into vintage-style booths, with nostalgic vibes and themed props for photo strips you’ll actually want to keep.

What to expect at Solace Studios’ newest outlet?

9 vintage photobooth themes to choose from

1. Flipbook Room

This unique Flipbook Room photobooth lets you capture your photos in motion, creating a mini flipbook – your very own real-life stop-motion keepsake.

2. Newspaper Booth

If you’ve ever been curious about what you’d look like in a 90s newspaper, this Newspaper Booth is your best bet.

There are 4 design layouts to choose from, but the biggest difference lies in the headlines: “Hot Girl Summer”, “Missing”, “Solace Studios at The Cathay,” and “Love Is In The Frame” are just some examples. The last one encapsulates you in an adorable heart-shaped design in the middle of the page.

3. Solace Express Luxury Train

Hop on the Solace Express Luxury Train with your friends and experience what it feels like travelling together on a seemingly moving vintage train – major vibes in this one because of how realistic it is.

4. Vintage Lift

The only time you might actually be okay with being stuck in a lift is in this Vintage Lift booth.

The warm lights and wooden interior really set the mood, and with the antique mirror frame, you’ll look slay while you’re at it.

5. Laundrette

8. Dark Room

The Dark Room photobooth takes the cake for giving you the most aura points. Its black-and-white theme gives your shots a moody, old-school charm, almost like you’ve stepped out of a 1920s film reel. Grab a flat cap from the Props Area to complete the look.

9. Wood Room

Finally, if you prefer something simple, there’s the Wood Room, featuring a walnut wood backdrop – minimalist enough so you’re the centre of attention.

Vanity & Props Area for quick photoshoot prep

Don’t forget to touch up your makeup or hair at the Vanity Area that’s equipped with atas Dyson hair straighteners, curlers, and dryers. There’s also a full-length mirror for those last-minute fit checks.

And to spice up your photo-taking sessions, there are multiple props for you to choose from at the Props Area, from vintage cameras to classic accessories like flat caps.
