Slingshot Is A New Extreme Catapult Ride In Clarke Quay That’ll Launch You 70M Into The Sky

Slingshot Singapore

Think of thrilling attractions and rides like USS or AJ Hackett Sentosa are usually the first to come to mind. But prepare to alter your brain chemistry because there’s a new ride in town that will get your adrenaline pumping. It’s Slingshot Singapore, the newest thrill ride that’s happening at Clarke Quay.

Propel 70m skyward at 160km/h

Remember the GX-5 Extreme Swing that reopened just a few months back? Slingshot Singapore is the 2nd ride to open within the same space at Clarke Quay.

Before we get into the ride, here’s a quick physics lesson for those who aren’t familiar with slingshots. On a small scale, these projectile weapons launch small items like rocks using Newton’s 3rd law of motion: for every action, there’s an equal and opposite reaction. Basically, pulling the slingshot back and letting it go will send your rock whizzing forward.

Now apply that on a larger scale and replace the rock with you. That’s what you’ll get at Slingshot Singapore, which is being hailed as the tallest catapultic ride in Asia. And instead of just launching forward, you’re sent 70m skywards at a crazy speed of 160km/h – about twice the speed limit for cars on the expressway.

Don’t worry about accidentally leaving Earth’s stratosphere though, the slingshot capsule is securely connected to 2 towering metal structures. Be prepared for some 360° turns in the air while you struggle to keep your eyes open to admire the chio Clarke Quay views down below.

The ride lasts for about 2-3 minutes as you free-fall and jolt right back up, but each bounce is less scary than the last. After all that action, the capsule will come to a halt, before the crew lowers your seat to the safe, solid ground.

And there you go, you’ve conquered the Slingshot. We get it if you spent the whole ride with your eyes closed in fear. You’ll still be able to relive your time since all visitors are recorded during the ride. These videos can be purchased for $20 to bring home as a core memory.

Ride the Slingshot attraction in Clarke Quay

Not everyone has the guts to brave this extreme ride at Slingshot Singapore. But if you’re like me, a gurlie seeking thrill and drama in life, this crazy ride is worth a shot. And not say we say one ah, but we already know this will make a good place to sabo your friend who’s afraid of heights, if you know what I mean.
