For many Singaporeans, the go-to option for a quick JB getaway is booking an Airbnb. And while there are already plenty of themed stays across the Causeway, such as an aeroplane-inspired home, this one might just take the cake in the cute department.
The Shin-chan Tatami House is an Airbnb in JB filled with decor and details that’ll have you gushing at every corner. If you and your friends are fans of the mischievous Crayon Shin-chan, this spot serves up nostalgia and cuteness all in one place for a fun group getaway.

You’ll immediately spot the tatami-style seating setup once you step into the living room – it’s made for lounging around like you’re in a Japanese home. But the highlight here has got to be the mural of Crayon Shin-chan and his friends enjoying a picnic under cherry blossom trees.

Right in front of it, there’s even a Shin-chan figurine being his usual cheeky self – yup, with a bra covering his eyes.
The raised platform also doubles as a comfy hangout spot for late-night suppers after you’ve raided the nearby KSL night market – just a 7-minute walk away and open every Monday.

Of course, the space wouldn’t be complete without plushies scattered around for you to hug or pose with.

Gather your friends for your next JB trip, as there are 2 bedrooms in this Airbnb that can accommodate up to 6 people.
Bedroom 1 features 2 queen-sized beds, with Shin-chan on the wall and his “butt” facing you. If that’s what you’re into – no judgement – you’ll want to chope this room.

Bedroom 2 keeps things a little calmer with a queen-sized bed and a subtle nod to the Shin-chan universe – Shiro, the clever white dog from the series, peeks out from the headboard.
BTW, there are 2 bathrooms in this apartment, but only Bedroom 2 has an ensuite bathroom.

As part of your stay, you’ll also get access to facilities such as the infinity pool, jacuzzi pool, kids’ pool, gym, and outdoor exercise area from 8am to 8pm.
There’s even the option to book the BBQ pit, though additional charges apply.

It’s located within Space Residency, a 60-storey serviced apartment just a 2-minute drive or 7-minute walk from KSL City Mall.
This makes it roughly a 10-minute drive from the JB checkpoint, so you won’t have to dread the journey home.

We did a price check for you – rates start from around $107/night on weekdays if you’re booking for April 2026, and go up to about $270/night on weekends for stays in June 2026.
Prices fluctuate depending on the season and demand, and the June school holidays are likely one of the reasons for the spike. So if you’re planning a trip, it’s best to avoid peak periods.
But when you split the cost among 6 people, it actually works out to be pretty decent for a quirky, themed stay. Girl math says it’s worth it.
Note: Prices are accurate at the time of writing, and are subject to change.
Instead of your usual cookie-cutter Airbnb, this one brings a lot more personality. It’s not every day you get to crash in a place where Crayon Shin-chan is your unofficial host.
