5 Coolest Secretlab Chair Designs & Their Hidden Features To Complete Your Dream BTO Study

Coolest Secretlab chair designs & hidden features

By now, you’re probably familiar with the high quality make and ergonomic design of Secretlab chairs. Lots of famous people swear by the brand, and its research-backed elements serve as a solid back pain remedy especially for those who spend ample time seated. Functionality aside, you may have noticed that Secretlab has a super extensive catalogue of designs.

What’s even better is that they have loads of Special Edition collections in collaboration with TV and anime series, movies, and even automobile brands. Here are some of the coolest Secretlab chair designs available, with hidden features from colour-changing tech to backrests made with carbon fibre used in actual Lambos.

Bonus: We spoke to Secretlab’s Lead Licenced Product Designer, Gabriel Lim, to bring you some exclusive behind-the-scenes insights into these designs.

1. Demon Slayer: Giyu Edition

Designs repping the characters’ different aesthetics, with colour-changing tech

Demon Slayer fans would squeal upon seeing the dedicated Secretlab collection, with designs inspired by Kyōjurō Rengoku and Shinobu Kocho’s iconic flame and butterfly motifs. What’s even more exciting is that Giyu’s Nichirin sword on the Demon Slayer: Giyu Edition chair has colour-changing capabilities.

Gabriel shares that this colour-changing technology is the first of its kind in the market. It’s thermally activated, meaning that when you lie on it, your body heat will transform the blade from black to how it looks when the sword is drawn in the anime: a cool blue.

2. Automobili Lamborghini: Pinnacle Edition

Super exclusive with only 50 worldwide & uses same material as Lambos

If you’re into cars, particularly supercars, the Automobili Lamborghini: Pinnacle Edition will have you drooling. First of all, only 50 pieces are intricately handcrafted worldwide, making it super exclusive. Its crowning glory is none other than the ultra lightweight carbon fibre top plate on the back, the same material used in Lamborghinis.

Once again, this feature is the first of its kind in the chair scene. Gabriel shared that it took countless hours experimenting with the material, heading to car workshops, and seeking the expertise of mechanics to learn how to mould it. The carbon fibre shell you see now is the result of more than 20 iterations, before it satisfied the Secretlab team’s sky-high standards.

While the Secretlab for Automobili Lamborghini Pinnacle Edition is sold out now, who knows if Secretlab might do another collab with them in time to come. Keep your eyes peeled!

3. DC: The Dark Knight Edition

Used by Hans Zimmer, the Oscar-winning composer behind The Dark Knight

You know Hans Zimmer, the legend behind soundtracks like The Lion King, Interstellar, and the Dune franchise? Well, he also composed for The Dark Knight. Imagine designing a chair themed after the movie, and having the Hans Zimmer use that chair himself. Definitely a “pinch me” moment for Gabriel.

The Secretlab team actually found out through spotting the chair that they designed being used by the Oscar-winning composer in various interviews online. Upon reaching out to him, they learnt that Hans Zimmer credits the comfort and support of this chair for the creative genius in his work. After all, composing film scores takes hours and hours, and being stuck in a shoddy chair can really throw a spanner in the works.

No matter what profession you’re in, you can enjoy the same comfort throughout your work and play by copping the DC: The Dark Knight Edition chair for yourself. Besides Batman, other beloved characters showcased in this series include Superman, The Flash, and The Joker.

4. Game of Thrones: Targaryen Edition

Realistic dragon scale detailing made from a custom leatherette

It may have been half a decade since Game of Thrones ended, but the show’s impact lives on in fans’ hearts. To keep you comfy as you binge the House of the Dragon spinoff, get the Game of Thrones: Targaryen Edition chair. Besides looking very regal, eagle-eyed users will be able to spot gorgeous dragon scale detailing on either side.

Gabriel shares that this unique pattern was achieved through a special plate which imbued the scales into the custom leatherette. It’s made to feel textured and realistic, so you can channel your inner Dragon King/Queen as you run your fingers across and sit on your very own throne.

5. Cyberpunk: Cyberpunk 2077 Edition

Made in collaboration with game developers, sold out within hours

Gamers mean business when it comes to repping their fave, so it makes sense that the  Cyberpunk: Cyberpunk 2077 Edition chair sold out globally within mere hours of its launch. The design sports futuristic elements drawn from the game, from electrical traces to cyberware implant slots.

All this was made possible by Secretlab working directly with CD Projekt RED, the developers behind Cyberpunk 2077. After getting a crash course on the game’s creation – from its visual inspirations to the lore – Gabriel and his team made sure to stay true to the source material and come up with designs that truly capture the essence of Cyberpunk 2077’s setting: Night City.

What makes Secretlab chairs special?

Imitation is the highest form of flattery, and Secretlab is no stranger to copycat attempts. What sets them apart is a deep understanding behind what makes a good ergonomic chair – from the NEO hybrid leatherette material that was developed specifically to withstand Singapore’s notorious humidity, to the precise 30° angle on the side wings that follow the natural horizontal curve of your shoulders.

Secretlab’s advantage is that they have extensive experience and data derived from making over 1 million chairs a year. Every chair they come up with is backed by science and research, with the team conducting ergonomic studies on how people in this day and age are sitting, and the crucial role that a simple chair plays in their lives.

When you unbox a Secretlab chair and take it for a spin, know that it is the product of expert engineering and rigorous testing.

When you think of brand collabs, you might write them off as gimmicky. Secretlab’s team is dedicated to doing right by the fandoms, and crafting something meaningful for them to rep their support loud and proud.

As Gabriel puts it, “We obsess over each stitch, colour, shade, and fabric to ensure they’ve served their place and purpose. If we believe that it’s something that would create a unique experience, we’ll go to great lengths to make it work, even if it’s something that’s never been done before.”

Gabriel also shares that it comes in handy that the Secretlab team comprises largely of “walking pop culture encyclopaedias”. So, expect nothing less than the most thoughtful touches and curated details that would get the fans’ stamp of approval.

What better way to showcase your love for a particular movie, series, or game than to introduce a Secretlab Special Edition chair to your abode. They have tonnes of collections to sift through, from eSports to games and anime. Suffice to say, your chair will be the envy of all your house guests.
