This Silent Disco Party at SAFRA Punggol Avoids the NYE Human Traffic Jam

Spend the last TGIF of 2016 at a silent disco

As 2016 draws to a close, the Singaporean crowd, too, draws closer to Orchard. But town and the clubs aren’t the only place to have one last memorable dance in 2016. After all, post-party depression is real, even without having to fight the zombie apocalypse.

Introducing TGIF 2016 @ SAFRA Punggol on 30 Dec. Held at – surprise – SAFRA Punggol, this countdown party isn’t just about alcohol and free flow food by Loco Loco; it’s also silent. Here’s what you can expect:

Experience the silent disco at Waterway Park

Punggol Waterway Park’s a great place for wildlife photography, tranquil walks and evening runs, but in this final you-only-2016-once stint, SAFRA Punggol is having a silent disco party in the middle of Punggol Waterway Park.

For the uninitiated, silent disco parties do involve great music, except that you get to choose what you want to listen to, and you get to listen to it through provided customised noise-cancelling headphones for that stereo surround, instead of having it blasting till your eardrums feel numb.

Each headphone will shine in different colours depending on your selected genre, so the dance floor will turn into a sea of dancing lights.

DJ Tinc

As the only female DJ to hold a monthlong residency at Zouk, DJ Tinc’s opening act is sure to get you warmed up for the party ahead. You also get a vast library of homegrown DJs to select your songs from. DJ Sakura, DJ I.M.X., and DJ Kid Fiesta will be spinning a selection of House EDM, K-Pop, and Pop.

Treat yourself to free flow food

If there’s anything to entice Singaporeans to do anything or go anywhere, it’s free food. While meal prices are soaring in town where the crowds are, you get free food at SAFRA Punggol. Provided by pop-up food stall veterans Loco Loco, choose from a spread of popcorn chicken, nachos and cheese, truffle fries and chicken kebabs. Or, grab them all while stocks last.

And it’s not a party if there’s no alcohol. Get a beer, cider, or stout starting at $5, and you’ll be ready to dance the night away. If you’re looking for some good ol’ games, bring a few friends to the Beer Pong tables for a challenge you won’t (hopefully) forget.

Do the mannequin challenge mid-disco

At the queerest spot for a rave, this mannequin challenge is sure to rake up the social media attention. Gear up with your LED lights and headphones, strike a crazy pose, and watch your stillness come to life on camera.

A new twist on Singapore’s nightlife
