5 Anti-Ageing Treatments In Singapore To Get Better Skin Just In Time For The New Year

Anti-ageing facial treatments in Singapore

Once we hit 25 years old, adulting starts to hit us in the face – literally – as the appearance of crow’s feet and grey hairs start popping out of the woodwork. And while growing up comes with plenty of perks, it’s also accompanied with downsides of growing older, such as finding new age spots and wrinkles whenever we look in the mirror.

Whether you’re looking to tackle problems like skin pigmentation that hint at your age, or simply getting a leg up on maintaining your current youthful glow, here are 5 anti-ageing facial treatments in Singapore that are the next best thing from the Fountain of Youth:

1. PICO Laser – to reduce skin pigmentation, pores, and scars

If I could travel back in time, I’d tell my teenage self to resist the urge to pop pimples whenever they appeared during my adolescent years. While many of us no longer get obnoxiously obvious whiteheads as frequently as before, the aftermath of puberty often leaves us with enlarged pores, acne scars, and stubborn pigmentation.

PICO Laser is a treatment that can help to reduce these skin issues effectively. As its name suggests, beams are shot out in picoseconds, a.k.a. super fast lasers. But don’t fret – these zaps won’t hurt too much and lowers the possibility of you having to encounter any complications compared to other lasers.

With visibly less pigmentation, pores, and scars, you’ll be one step closer to having a youthful glow that belies your real age.

Treatment time: 30 minutes

2. Rejuran – to counter damage from sun rays

Leaving the office every afternoon to get lunch is no simple feat, especially when we have to tahan the arduous walk to-and-fro under the blazing sun. But beyond sweating buckets, a hidden effect of sun rays is UV damage on our skin – which starts showing up as spots after a few years.

Targeting the inner skin tissues directly, Rejuran is a skin rejuvenation treatment that uses a series of micro-injections to heal your skin from the inside. Originating from Korea, this anti-inflammatory treatment will help spur collagen production and smoothen out fine lines – leaving you with softer skin.

If you’re scared of pain like me, rest assured that a thick layer of numbing cream and additional local anaesthesia will be applied upon request beforehand.

Fun fact: The extract used is taken from Salmon DNA, as it has polynucleotides that offer healing effects like skin cell renewal.

Treatment time: 15-30 minutes

3. HydraFacial Elite – to reduce wrinkles and smoothen skin texture

Going for a relaxing facial is the classic form of TLC for many people. But besides a massage sesh for your face, there’s another type of facial known as HydraFacial Elite which includes a ton of antioxidants, hyaluronic acid and peptides that’ll give you a moisturising glow.

This treatment is customisable to cater to your specific skin needs and skincare goals, and guarantees an instant effect in smoothing your skin texture and reducing fine lines and wrinkles.

Try out the Vortex Cleansing and Exfoliation process, which removes accumulated dead skin cells to reveal radiant skin. Alternatively, firm up and remove toxins from your tired skin with a Hydra Lymphatic Drainage.

For a lasting effect, the LED Therapy serves to let serums enter and be absorbed by your skin – so your daily skincare routine isn’t done in vain.

Treatment time: 45 minutes

4. IPL Skin Rejuvenation – to lighten age spots and spider veins

Most of us have heard, or even experienced firsthand – IPL Hair Removal. But a lesser known treatment is IPL Skin Rejuvenation, which uses Intense Pulse Light (IPL) to reach into the lower skin layer to lighten age spots, spider veins, and broken capillaries.

Pro tip: Use the recovery cream and sunscreen provided after your treatment for the next few days to soothe your skin.

Treatment time: 20-30 minutes

5. Ultherapy – to lift and tighten droopy skin

No matter how hard we try to keep up with our skincare routine, an unavoidable side effect of ageing is saggy skin. Whether it’s the cheeks, neck, or chest area, Ultherapy is a safer alternative to go about a facelift compared to the surgical option. To find out more about their Ultherapy treatment, my colleague, Kayce, decided to try it out for herself.

The numbing cream takes around 20 minutes to fully absorb into the skin

Before diving into the treatment, numbing cream was applied around key areas like the cheeks and more sensitive spots such as the jawline. While Kayce’s pain threshold is quite high and she didn’t need extra painkillers, you can request for it if you feel the need to.

Spreading on a layer of cooling ultrasound gel

An ultrasound device known as MFU was then used to send heat energy that goes up to 70 degree Celsius into deep skin tissues. Kayce described the sensation to be like mini static spikes that could barely be felt, with a slight achiness at bony areas like the jawline and brow bone.

Dr Sii guiding Kayce through each step of the treatment

After the treatment, Kayce experienced mild swelling around the smile lines and a slight ache around the jaw. But apart from that, there was minimal downtime as we went on with our day grabbing lunch and heading back to the office.

Treatment time: 30-60 minutes
