Get ready to catch ‘em all. Except instead of hurling Pokéballs to catch actual Pokémon, head down to AMK Hub, Jurong Point, and Thomson Plaza from now till 26 Dec 2018 to catch the Pokémon-themed Christmas celebrations, ranging from carnivals to adorable dance parades.
Unleash your inner fanboy or fangirl as you tour the installations of fan-favourite starters like Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle paired with the festive cheer of Christmas.
The traditional carnival now comes with a Pokémon twist at all three malls. Simply spend $20 mall-wide ($30 for NTUC FairPrice/FairPrice Xtra) to redeem a game pass to access the Pokémon-themed carnival.
These stickers feature starter Pokémon across the generations
When you’re here, you’ll be given a game card that is to be filled up with stamps collected from 5 main booths. Once you’re done filling up the card, you can exchange it for a set of stickers at the counter.
Below is a breakdown of the booths onsite:
Litten’s Fire Attack! is basically like whack-a-mole, except you don’t use a mallet, and there’re no moles to whack. Instead, you’re armed with a projectile to launch three balls around the board to score points.
HIT IT! comes with a set of cardboard Pokéballs suspended from a low ceiling. You’ll be given three balls, which you will throw at the specific Pokéballs assigned by the gamemaster.
Memorise the Card is a simple Mix-and-Match game, where your objective is to match Pokémon around the board until all of them have been opened.
Gengar’s Shadow Ball is a pretty cool game in which you use an air pump-like catapult to launch velcro clouds at a dart board. You’ll be given five tries to score a total of 8 points.
Select Your Pokémon! will test your knowledge of Pokémon’s elemental types and evolution stages, with the game beginning with the gamemaster assigning you 2-3 elements. From the pile of cards, you are to select Pokémon that correspond to your assigned elements and line them up in the correct order of their evolution stages.
Apart from the 5 main carnival booths, there is also a separate booth where you can try the latest entries to the Pokémon game series: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee! Here, you can try your hand at adventuring through the remade world of Pokémon Yellow with either Pikachu or Eevee riding on your back.
You can also take part in a Quiz Rally, which is a sort of treasure hunt where you go to 4 different sections of the mall to find pop-ups detailing the questions you are to answer. When you’re done answering all 4 questions, you can redeem a set of stickers at the carnival counter.
