PLQ Mall Has A New Pop-Up With Arcade & Multiplayer Gaming Arenas, Everything Is Free To Play

Gamebox at Paya Lebar Quarter

Many 90s kids will remember spending their after-school noons at a nearby arcade with friends trying to beat each other’s high scores. The thrill from playing and winning coupons to redeem prizes was worth what little pocket money we got to spend on these games.

Paya Lebar Quarter’s (PLQ) gaming pop-up, Gamebox, will bring all those memories flooding back. From now till 6th November, the outdoor Plaza will be turned into a gamified playspace with gaming arenas, live performances, and plenty of photo ops.

Neon gaming arenas with 10 games

There’s a lot to cover, so here’s the lowdown on what to expect at Gamebox – 3 gaming arenas featuring classic favourites and new games, the Prism Portal and lights installation which is where you take photos for the ‘Gram, and the stage where performers will entertain over the weekends.

There are also Lendlease Plus$, which can be exchanged for e-vouchers, to be won when you hit the objectives of each game. So, let the games begin.

Ready, player one? Head to the Solo Arena where you battle against the leaderboard to prove your salt. The zone debuts 4 spanking new games – Turbo, Timeout, Froggie, and Gone Fishing.

If the kiddos want to play too, Froggie and Gone Fishing are both suitable for ages 9 and up. In Gone Fishing, players aim to catch fishes to gain points with rare fishes offering more points. With Froggie, the player is a tadpole that has to evolve to a frog by eating fishes and worms within the shortest amount of time while avoiding bumping into bigger fishes.

Groups that wanna have some fun together, make your way to the Party Arena which offers 3 family-friendly multiplayer games – FNAKBALL, Go Kart Go!, and Tower Game.

With Go Kart Go!, up to 4 friends or family members compete in a race and use wacky power-up items to slow down or sabo their opponents in a bid to finish first.

The Hyper Arena will have 3 arcade favourites giving us all the nostalgic feels. Show off your musical talent with Drum Mania, play a variety of mini video games on Bishi Bashi Channel, and shoot for the stars with Up and Away.

Games bazaar & toy stalls

Apart from the arcade games, there will also be a bazaar with game stalls like the ones you see at fairs and carnivals.

Layangman will be offering a free-to-play shooting game where you can stand a chance to win prizes when you hit a minimum high score.

Live performances by local artists over the weekends

If you’re at PLQ on the weekends, you might spot a few familiar faces serenading the crowd at the Plaza. Every Friday to Sunday, local artists such as Marcus Lee, Joie Tan, and Jason Yu will perform live from 7pm till late.

IG-worthy photo ops

In accordance with the neon theme, the electric backdrops at the Kaleidoglobes Installation and Prism Portal offer the perfect opportunity to snap your own IG-worthy photos.

Walk across the road towards the illuminated neon globes at the PLQ Parkside to see the lights installation and even stand a chance to win $100 Lendlease e-vouchers when you post your photos with the orbs with the hashtag #PLQGamebox. Check out the Paya Lebar Quarter Facebook and Instagram pages for more deets on joining the photo contest.

For more cool shots within the playspace itself, walk through the Prism Portal at the PLQ Plaza, a 6m tunnel that lights up and changes colours.

Visit PLQ to take part in Gamebox

To take part in the games, members of the public can join the public queue at any of the arenas. To speed things up, spending $20 or more in a single receipt and presenting it will grant you access to the express queue and 1 free play at any gaming arena of your choice.

Shoppers who spend at least $80 at PLQ will be able to redeem a base pass to enjoy 5 different games. Lendlease Plus Members just need to spend $60 for the same and only members will be able to earn Plus$ upon completing and fulfilling the individual game criteria.

Redeem your base pass from the PLQ Mall Concierge Desk on Level 4 before 9.30pm.

To become a Lendlease Plus member, visit the Lendlease Plus Booth at PLQ Plaza to retrieve a promo code and receive 10,000 Plus$ and a base pass to play games instantly. Alternatively, download the Lendlease Plus mobile app (App Store | Playstore) or sign up on the Lendlease Plus website.

Lendlease malls include PLQ, Parkway Parade, Jem, and 313@somerset.

Lendlease Plus$ can be used to redeem e-vouchers to be used across all Lendlease malls as well as exchanged for carpark dollars to offset your bills. You can also enjoy exclusive discounts at selected stores and restaurants during your birthday month.

So, this weekend when you’re looking for something fun to do with your friends and family, make a trip down to Gamebox at PLQ. Battle it out with the arcade games and you may even win yourselves some Lendlease Plus$.
