We all need the perfect go-to place in town to kick back on a Friday night. The same old hipster cafes grow boring after a while, and you need a decent meal time joint to chill out over some droolworthy food. Perhaps it’s to celebrate a grand occasion, or the little victories in life. Like surviving yet another work week without too much damage. This is where OverEasy comes in.
The new kid in town serves up a hearty meal of high quality dishes, decadently addictive to the very last bite. OverEasy is not afraid to be a little more tongue-in-cheek than your run-of-the-mill restaurant or cafe. I mean, I never thought I’d one day taste a chicken that was roasted with a whole can of beer shoved up its buttocks, but I can safely say that I’ve checked that off my bucket list now. And boy, was it good.
With candied bacon in your cocktails and carbs that taste so wickedly good you forget the meaning of the word “diet”, this is the place to indulge.
Trust us, every single calorie will be well worth it.
Food aside, the gorgeous diner-style interior and relaxed vibes offer a welcome break from everything you’ve been fretting over. The bright, colourful and quirky decor will put an instant smile to your face. I personally loved the American diner concept, which made me feel like I’d just walked into a scene straight out of the big screens.
Hanging out with your friends will be much cooler when you guys huddle up in a traditional diner booth. From the checker-print coasters to quaint table settings, everything just screams insta-worthy, so sit back and enjoy the cozy diner vibes. Your tummy and tastebuds will soon be very satisfied.
Kickstart your meal with a set of sliders that are as delicious as they are adorable. Succulent ribeye roasted for two hours is sandwiched between petite toasted buns, together with cheddar cheese sauce and a dollop of bacon jam. Grab ‘em quick, these babies will vanish from the plate before you even know it.

This is everyone’s favourite comfort food, upgraded. Made from three types of cheeses, red mild cheddar, emmental and parmesan, the sauce alone will have your head swirling. The Truffle ($16) is a must-try for all fans of the highly prized, intoxicatingly fragrant mushroom.
If you’re a carnivore like myself, don’t sleep on the Mac & Cheeks ($22). It’s chock full of braised beef cheeks that have been cured for five hours, seared and glazed with red wine before finally being braised overnight for maximum juicy tenderness.

With pastrami cured in-house for 168 hours, you know you’re in for a treat. If you’ve yet to try sauerkraut, this is the place to start. It’s finely cut, fermented cabbage that, despite sounding rather gross in theory, is actually very tasty and does a swell job of cutting through the rich flavours of the meat. Finished off with a dash of special Russian dressing, made fresh with love at OverEasy.
It’s like the good ol’ ham and grilled cheese sandwich you grew up loving, but sooo much better.

Order this if you happen to love chili cheese fries! But then again, who wouldn’t? You honestly can’t go wrong with meat, cheese and potatoes. It’s three of the best foods known to mankind, together as they should be.
This appetiser is great for sharing but trust me, you’ll fight your friends for every last morsel of it. It’s THAT awesome. Piping hot melted cheese and sour cream sit atop ground beef and fries that are crispy yet super fluffy within. Ooey, gooey, and oh-so-good.

Craving some meaty goodness? This hefty wagyu beef patty will surely hit the spot. Stunningly executed to medium-rare perfection as per my request, the patty alone made me consider swearing off subpar fast food chain burgers for life. There’s also a generous heaping of caramelised onions and sauteed mushrooms. The crowning jewel: homemade truffle mayonnaise slathered on very thick and deliciously toasted buns.
Got buns, hun? Yes, they sure do.

An overindulgent Southern classic that I’ve been dying to try, this lived up to all my expectations. Who knew that this unlikely pairing of sweet and savoury would turn out to be a match made in heaven?
The waffles may not look as fancy as the hipster ones we’re all used to seeing but fret not, my cafe-hopping friend, as beauty is only skin deep. One bite and I was completely sold. Ultimate fluffiness aside, they had such a sweet, creamy flavour that it pretty much knocked every other waffle I’ve ever had straight out of the park.
The chicken was stellar as well. Think about every version of fried chicken you’ve ever had. Well, the one at OverEasy is a whole new experience to behold. It’s super flavourful with a harmonious balance of peppery spices and earthy herbs.
“Enough with the raving!”, you say. “We get it, it’s good!”. Well, I’m sorry but my love for this dish just cannot be tamed.
One final thing, if I may add, is that their maple syrup and honey butter combo will have you licking the plate clean.

Here’s some meat that will make you blush. Once you get past the giggles induced by the chicken’s glorious posture as well as the beer can shoved up its posterior, this marvellous piece of poultry will be a game changer.
Getting roasted with the filled can of beer inside of it allows the chicken to attain an unparalleled level of moisture. You will never taste such juicy and flavourful chicken in your life, I kid you not. It was so soft that chewing on it was like a dream.
The assortment of roasted veggies were much more than just decoration. Each seasoned beautifully to achieve a potent dose of flavour, my favourite by far were the cobs of corn. Ever so slightly charred at the edges for that wonderful smoky aroma, they were unbelievably sweet and yummy.
Overall, this dish is a definite crowd pleaser that you HAVE to try. Don’t forget to take pictures of the beer can from inappropriate angles to spam your friends with on Whatsapp.

OverEasy has perfected their signature milkshake formula that strikes the perfect balance of thick and fluffy. These flavour-packed concoctions were desserts on their own.
With a mixture of berries blitzed up with marshmallow and chocolate, Berry Bonanza ($9) tasted very reminiscent of a classic Black Forest cake.
I highly recommend Smokey The Bear ($9) – a blend of bananas and house-smoked maple syrup and topped off with a sliver of candied bacon. It’s everything I love served in a tall glass of yum. Fair warning, it does have a pretty heady aftertaste!
Smokey The Bear comes in an alcoholic version at $19 too.

Round off an epic meal with a dessert that’s rich and decadent in all the right amounts. These chewy donut balls are made in-house and freshly fried to order. Served with homemade fudge spiked with bourbon, it’ll have you dipping and popping them in your mouth one after the other like there’s no tomorrow. Carbs? What carbs?

I’m pretty sure I’ve just found my new favourite dinner haunt, or anytime really. Because you never know when you’ll be craving some banana, syrup and bacon milkshake for breakfast, you know?
One thing’s for sure, the dishes at OverEasy will not fail to deliver on taste, quality and overall awesomeness. From the dainty starter dishes to the mammoth platters, I can easily see myself sharing them with my family and friends over lots of hearty chatter.
Break away from the hustle and bustle of life and immerse yourself in this stylish, authentic American diner experience. The food, ambience and good vibes all around will make for a blissfully fabulous time indeed.
