The sad truth is that everyone wants a puppy, but hardly anyone wants an old dog. You can’t teach an old dog new tricks, right? In reality, older animals are mellower, making for affectionate and lovable companions.
Old Is Gold wants to change your perception. They’re a non-profit working with Oasis Second Chance Animal Shelter, Causes for Animals and Cat Welfare Society to advocate for the welfare and adoption of older pets, because senior pets deserve some love too!
Anyone with an older furry companion knows that age doesn’t determine how fun or loving your pet is. Celebrate your senior pets with Old Is Gold – highlights include a Senior Dog Walk and an adoption drive for older pets.
For pet owners with dogs above the age of six, the Senior Dog Walk is for you. To prove that age is just a number, you can walk your dog with other senior dog owners to support all the oldies out there. Your dog will receive an Oldie finisher medal and a goodie bag.
Unfortunately, older shelter and abandoned animals are the least likely to find new homes. Now, it’s time for senior cats and dogs to shine. To give one of these lovable oldies a new home, don’t miss the adoption drive at 11am.
