What to expect at the Next Idol: Your K-Pop Moment exhibition

Do try to arrive at the gallery 10 minutes before your timeslot, as the exhibition journey begins on the dot.

You’ll get an overview of the exhibition layout and a quick intro to the K-pop group Generix and its members as you wait to enter the exhibition space.

No worries if you’re visiting after a day of shopping – you can leave your bags in a cubby hole shelf right outside the exhibition space for your convenience.

New Origin

Start off the exhibition with an introductory video at New Origin. Meet X, the producer who’s bringing K-pop back with Generix. She’s gathered 3 multitalented members – Ina, Sua and Jihan – and you’ll get to be their 4th and final member.

Get your phones ready, as you’ll need them to prepare for the next area. Scan the QR code on the screen to join the interactive session in the next room.

Emotional Resonance

Step into the media hall and get immediately immersed in a visual treat at Emotional Resonance. The whole room is filled with 360° projections going from floor to ceiling on all 4 walls – even the floor is a screen. You’ll soon enter a wormhole sending you back to 2026, a time when K-pop is thriving.

Warm up your arms, because you’re in for a real workout. With your phone transformed into a lightstick, join in on the rhythm game and shake your phone to the beat of a medley featuring the latest K-pop hits.

Pro tip: Be careful when you’re waving your lightstick; don’t accidentally press the “back” button and get logged out as we did.

Avid K-pop fans can also flex their dancing skills and treat this as a Random Play Dance session.

Once you’ve experienced what being a K-pop fan in 2026 is like, you’ll be transported back to 2050, where Generix takes the stage and performs an original song in front of a sold-out stadium.

Don’t miss the chance to step into the spotlight and pose for the cameras once the performance is over.

This section features bright flashing lights and loud sounds, so do exercise caution if you are sensitive to these.

Generix Identity Archive

After a workout, take it slow by walking down memory lane in the Generix Identity Archive and get a glimpse of your bandmates’ lives, from their beginnings as kids to their latest achievements as idols.

World Stage

The intense arm training in Emotional Resonance isn’t all – it’s time for a leg workout as you embark on a world tour. Jump to the beat to expand your world stage and meet more fans.

Pro tip: Make sure you’re wearing comfortable shoes if you want to play along. We learnt the hard way that jumping in boots was not the best idea.

Final Identity

Finally, gear up for your debut and solidify your Final Identity as an idol.

And as G-Dragon once said, get your crayon and design your bandmates’ fits for a swag check, because no performance is complete without the perfect stage costume. Once you’re done, scan your masterpiece and let AI complete the finishing touches to bring your designs to life.

If you’re still in a doodling mood, you can decorate 3 of Generix’s regular haunts with your drawings.

One of the most exciting parts is checking out your new look in real time as generative AI transforms you into a K-pop idol. As we tried out different poses, we realised the AI can even generate images of you holding mics or other props, giving you a full stage look.

You’ll even get to take home a portrait of your idol avatar drawn by AI robot SketcherX. Just try not to be too creeped out by him staring into your soul as he sketches you.

Feeling worried about your future as an idol? Meet Vinaida, an AI fortune teller who will dispel your worries. She’ll gift you a talisman imbued with the powers of Korean mythical figures, packed with well-wishes for your K-pop journey.

You can save your reading digitally through a QR code, or get a physical talisman card at the merch store for $8.

Exclusive merchandise store

At the end of the exhibition, take home some souvenirs from your journey with Generix at the exclusive merchandise store.

In true K-pop fashion, get your hands on some photocards ($3.20) and photocard stands ($18) to show off your Generix bias. You can also get Generix’s album with their mini CD keychain ($14.30), fully functional through NFC.

The Generix merch doesn’t stop there. Check out their other goods in store, like postcards ($3), A3 art posters ($19.50), card cover stickers ($9.80), and DIY keychains ($5). If you’re feeling lucky, you could even try the gashapon machine offering random acrylic keyrings ($7.70) – hopefully you’ll get your bias.

Free skin analysis & photobooth

K-beauty fans can also get a free skin analysis with the 2 AI Beauty Consultants – one to figure out your personal colour and another for your skin type. You’ll receive in-depth reports with beauty recommendations to get you one step closer to looking your best.

Then head over to the photobooths powered by Photoism to immortalise your visit with a photostrip. They have 2 exclusive Generix frames designed just for this exhibition, or you could opt for Photoism’s other collaboration frames featuring real K-pop groups like Seventeen and Le Sserafim.

Photostrips are currently free as part of their opening promotion, but will be priced from $10 after the promotion is over. There’s no end date for the promo at the time of writing, but we recommend heading down ASAP lest you miss it.

Is it worth going to the Next Idol: Your K-POP Moment exhibition?

If you’re a fan of K-pop, we would say yes. The Emotional Resonance section, especially, is a huge draw – it really feels like you’re at a K-pop festival for a fraction of the price. The exhibition is also a great glimpse into how the K-pop scene could develop with the evolution of AI.

Families with kids can also come here for a short and sweet family outing. All the exhibition’s activities are kid-friendly, so don’t worry about a moment of boredom for the young ones.
