It won’t be hard to visualise a typical visit to the famous ArtScience Museum – just think projector art and IG-worthy installations. But that’s not the only place in Singapore where you can find immersive art; Nam June Paik: The Future Is Now is an IG-worthy exhibit at the National Gallery, running from now till 27th March 2022.
While tickets are usually priced at $15/adult, you can enjoy 1-for-1 admission from now till 14th March 2022.
If you haven’t heard of Nam June Paik, here’s a quick introduction. The South Korean artist can be considered the OG founder of video art, creating many works over a span of 50 years before his passing in 2006.

Here, you’ll be sure to find exhibits that would make you reach for your camera. 180 installations are spread out over multiple zones, with the most eye-catching being the Sistine Chapel. The star of the show features overlapping digital projections flashed across the walls of the museum, casting shadows as you pass.

Fun fact: Most of his artworks were created in the 1990s but still remain relevant today.

More than that, you’ll also find a wide variety of artworks that bring to life Paik’s take on technology and culture including plenty of works based on the old-school telly.
Nam June Paik: The Future Is Now has graced London’s Tate Modern, San Francisco’s Museum of Modern Art, and Amsterdam’s Stedelijk Museum, with Singapore being the last stop in its world tour. Before it ends, be sure to drop by the exhibit at the National Gallery Singapore for a visit. We hear there are Singapore-exclusive content added into the mix as well!
