MEDZS launches new Asian menu

About MEDZS

MEDZS should be a familiar name to those of us fond of Mediterranean cuisine. The casual diner dishes out an eclectic range of cuisines from places like Spain, Morocco, Tunisia and Greece. It grew quickly in popularity with its cashless dining concept and massive range of food choices.

To cater to even more Singaporean palates, MEDZ has introduced a new Asian counter, with some familiar favourites like Mee Goreng and Chilli Crab. Here are the highlights of the new menu.

The Food at MEDZS

The Braised Tiger Prawns ($23.90) came coated in a steaming golden broth sweetened by pumpkin. The prawns were large and juicy, split at the seams for easier eating. The pumpkin broth is the crowning glory of this dish.

If you love a good salted egg sauce, the taste of this broth will appeal to you in the same way with its savoury-sweet complexity. Mop up all that golden goodness with the mantous served alongside.

We also enjoyed the Wok Fried Chilli Flower Crab ($23.90). The thick sauce is sweet and eggy, with a faint tanginess. Flower crabs were chosen for this dish because they’re easier to crack open and devour. Thoughtful, but we would have preferred fleshier meat to mop up the thick sweet sauce. The sauce could also do with a bit more spiciness for extra kick.

The Seafood Mee Goreng ($12.90) was a crowd-pleaser, with its sticky-sweet sauce and heady dose of spice. We also liked that the mee goreng came with fat shelled prawns and a generous mix of seafood. The price is a little steep for a local favourite but it definitely is one of the better items on the menu.

For dessert, I recommend skipping the churros for the equally photogenic Rainbow Cake ($6.90). With its light cheesecake texture and brightly coloured layers, it’s almost like ingesting happiness. We heard that the Rainbow Cake at their Clifford Centre outlet sells out by lunchtime almost every day.

Verdict

While I frequent MEDZS for its luscious pesto pasta and rosti, it’s still worth paying their Asian counter a visit. Hats off to MEDZS for working so hard to woo diners. The sheer variety available means that it’s suitable for large gatherings and for repeat visits.

To get the most out of your meal, I recommend sharing in a bigger group so you’ll get to sample a little of everything.
