We’re well on our way into the new year, and for some of us, that means putting aside our resolutions of eating clean and working out. Sure, my 6-pack dreams have only resulted in a food baby – but hey, I ain’t mad, and you shouldn’t be either.
From cotton candy coffee to chicken rice waffles, March is the month for you to ditch your diet and explore what our food scene has to offer. Here are 20 new cafes and restaurants to get you started!

Coffee? Baaaasic. But cotton candy coffee? Hold up.
Enter 1. Mellower Coffee, a speciality coffee chain from Shanghai, where your wildest cotton candy dreams will come true. Their novel creation, Sweet Little Rain ($9.80) is essentially a cloud of cotton candy suspended over a steamy cup of Americano.
If spending 10 minutes watching cotton candy melt into a sugary rain – which sweetens the coffee – doesn’t give you a needed kick, try their Ondeh x Latte ($9.80) – a creamy Ondeh Ondeh and gula melaka concoction paired with an espresso shot that customers can mix in themselves.

Desserts have been coming in all forms as of late – but there’s one thing we haven’t experienced yet: dessert juice. Well, Fruce has made it happen.
Beat the heat with a Red Velvet Truffle with Vanilla Ice Cream ($4.50), or the crowd pleasing Avocado Coconut Mix ($4) if you’re feeling them ~summer vibes~. More adventurous ones can try the Pumpkin Kuromitsu ($3.80), a blend of roasted pumpkin and Japanese brown sugar.
Address: 435 Orchard Road, #B1-45 Wisma Atria, Singapore 238877
Opening Hours: Daily 10am – 10pm

Tucked away in Serene Centre is The Bakery by Woodlands Sourdough. This Muslim-owned micro bakery offers an assortment of cakes and cookies, but we say go straight for their signature sourdough toasts.
Source: @iamdeetee
Perfectly crusty on the outside and moist on the inside, the toasts go delightfully well when paired with their homemade spreads and fillings, such as Nut Butter, Honey and Sea Salt ($3.50) or Sage Cream Cheese and Berry Compote ($4). Decadence has never been so wholesome.

Time to thank our neighbours for bringing delectable desserts onto our humble shores once again. Hailing from Hong Kong to Jurong is Lab Made, an ice cream store at Westgate.
Sure, we’re no strangers to nitrogen ice cream, but Lab Made brings it up a notch with their unique HK-inspired flavours. Satiate your liu sha cravings with their Salted Egg Yolk Custard Bun ($6.90), or go for their HK French Toast ($6.90) which comes topped with crunchy sugar-coated toast for that extra bite.

There are pretty cafes, and then there’s House of AnLi Bistro. Opened by the folks of House of AnLi interior design firm, it’s no wonder this place looks straight out of Kinfolk magazine. And it goes without saying that it ranks high on Insta-worthiness.
Source: @suwannnn
However, it’s not all about ambience at House of AnLi. This bistro serves home-styled European nosh, like the hearty Maria’s Moussaka ($28), and Ghentse Waterzooi ($26), a Belgian chicken broth. For those who’d prefer simpler fare, opt for some NZ Organic Eggs on Toast ($9) which comes with add-on toppings like avocado, mushrooms and the ever-trusty bacon.

Quirky fusion desserts are popping up all over the place, though sometimes all we want is a penny-plain cup of ice cream. At Canvas Gelato, servings are measured by weight and come in three sizes – 80g ($4.20), 120g ($6.30) and 180g ($8.80), with seasoned flavours like matcha, latte and coconut. If you’re looking for something a little more filling, you can also get your ice cream with some waffles and coffee.

Love it or hate it, poke bowls aren’t going anywhere – not anytime soon at least. Yup, there’s yet another poke bar in town and it comes in the form of Loloku. A crowd pleaser would be the Wikiwiki Salmon ($14), where you can get a double scoop of salmon and tuna for just $2 more.
Source: @josiegoesweeeee
Feeling creative – or just picky? Loloku also gives you the option of making your own DIY bowl (from $12), so go crazy. Its location along Keong Saik Road also makes it a great lunch spot for the CBD folk who are in serious need of a poke fix.

I don’t know who Taylor Swift was thinking about when she sang ‘we’d never go out of style’ – but she might as well have been singing about waffles with ice cream. A new addition to the Duxton crew of cafes is Kosnica, a cosy spot that’s perfect for a chill afternoon.
Mix and match to create your perfect combo – from fluffy Buttermilk, Matcha or Red Velvet waffles, to premium gelato flavours like Mao Shan Wang or Earl Grey with Fig. Prices for the ice creams start at $5.50 for a single scoop, and $10 for double.

I’ve seen nasi lemak come in cubes and even ice cream, but nothing seems to excite my tastebuds more than a good ol’ plate of the real deal. Revolution Coffee offers 5 Nasi Lemak sets ($4.90 – $9.90), with the choice of sides ranging from chicken rendang to 5 spice pork confit.
Source: @singaporeliciouz
The cafe also offers unique fusion dishes like Bak Chor Mee Pasta and Fish Curry Pasta (both $19.90). Sweet tooths can look forward to trying interesting desserts too – like their Kueh Dadar Mille Crepe. Pandan crepe, salted gula melaka and whipped coconut cream…mmm sedap!

From brick walls to signboards adorned with sick graffiti art, The Ding Ding Man deserves to be on your list of cafes to hop by this month. Smack in the middle of Serangoon and Kovan MRTs, this industrial-themed cafe comes with equally interesting tea-bites on its menu.

If a mix of soda, ice cream and buttery caramel popcorn floats your boat, you’ll have to pop by to try the star of the show – their Popcorn Float ($7)! And if you’re feeling peckish, they’ve also got a selection of homemade cakes for your enjoyment.

Burger aficionados, there’s a new reason to celebrate. If you think FatPapas looks familiar, that’s because this burger bar – which is co-owned by rapper Sheikh Haikel – is the halal outlet of homegrown favourite, Fatboy’s.
The menu remains similar, with some new additions like Papa’s Beef Ribs ($22) and the Wimpy Burger ($15) – a beef or lamb burger topped with turkey bacon, cheddar and BBQ sauce.
We recommend trying The Elvis ($11). This bad boy comes with turkey bacon stuffed beef patty, peanut butter and grilled bananas – a nod to the King of Rock and Roll’s favourite snack. A mix of sweet and savoury in your burger? Don’t knock it till you try it!

If there’s one thing Singaporeans love, it’s affordable food. An expansion of sushi bar Sushiro, Takumi offers hungry bellies with value-for-money donburis at just $12, which is cheaper than most rice bowls out there.
The Tokyo Gyuniku Don ($12) comes with a good portion of sliced beef, onions and a jiggly onsen egg. Can’t get enough? Save yourself the trouble of craving for more after wiping your bowl clean and just go straight for their Mount Gyuniku Don, an upsized version of the original, priced at $22. Is it worth climbing the mountain of extra beef slices and ooey-gooey goodness? We’ll let you be the judge.

Korea’s latest food trend has made its way to Singapore, and we’ve never been more stoked over seafood. K-Tower Amoy Street offers steamer towers that go up to 9 tiers, full of fresh shellfish like prawns, crabs and even live abalone. If you’re feeling like a baller, they’ve even got lobsters as a premium add-on, which are priced at $108/kg.
But not everyone needs to make it rain – K-Tower’s 3-tiered seafood tower comes at $58 and easily feeds two to three diners.

Nestled within the heart of Joo Chiat is Corner Burger, a humble stall that offers food that’ll manage to bring you back in time just a little bit. The food here is nothing mindblowingly unique – but that’s what makes it so special.
Reminiscent of primary school recess runs, the Canteen Burger ($3) consists of a simple chicken patty and veggies with a side of fries – which actually started off as a little inside joke before becoming a hit with the locals around the area. For something a little more filling, tuck into their hearty Beef Adobo Rice Bowl ($8) instead.
Source: @the_xw
For a light afternoon bite, try some Coconut Pancakes ($3). The pancakes are thin and crisp, and are topped with a drizzle of gula melaka, butter and grated coconut.
Its comforting, no-frills fare makes Corner Burger an endearing addition to the Katong district, so drop by the next time you’re around the area!

I know what you’re thinking – another poke store? Hear me out. Lon, owner of Alakai, is actually Hawaiian, so I think we’ve got a worthy contender in the market here. Poke here is prepared true-blue Hawaiian style – so don’t expect to see a basic poke bowl, but a traditional plate lunch instead!
Alakai serves up made-to-order poke with no pre-marinated mixes, to ensure maximum freshness. Customers have the choice of fish (salmon, prawn or tuna) or tofu, with either rice or salad as a side. Indecisive eaters can go for their set meals, like the Yobo Poke Plate ($13.45) or Alakai Big Poke Plate ($24.45).

The thought of European food never fails to make my tummy grumble – along with my wallet. Finding atas ang moh food at affordable prices in Singapore is like striking gold, so when Porta opened its doors, we knew we hit the jackpot.

This restaurant-cum-grocer offers us local folk with dishes like Chilled Angel Hair Pasta and Ravioles des Royans as part of their two-course ($18) and three-course ($22) lunch sets. Round off your meal with some Coconut Blancmange ($12) – and don’t worry about whether you can pronounce it or not. Can eat, can already.

For healthier donburi options around the city, Yuki Onna is the place to go. You can look forward to some classic Chirashi Don ($16.90), or Truffle Beef Yakiniku Don with Foie Gras ($23) if you’re in the mood to #TreatYoSelf.
There’s also the option of replacing the rice with quinoa, and to customise donburis to your liking with the Make Your Own Bowl option, which ranges from $7.90 to $9.90.

Lovebirds, we may have just found you a new date spot. Acqua e Farina – that’s “water and flour” in Italian – serves up delectable Northern and Southern Italian fare that’ll be sure to hit the spot.
Go all Lady and the Tramp and slurp up their Fettucine Nere alla Polpa di Granchio ($23++), a fresh squid ink pasta with Sri Lankan crab meat, tossed in a creamy tomato sauce. And if, like me, you have a very close relationship with pizza, give yourself some lovin’ with Acqua e Farina’s homemade pizzas (from $18).

Having more than one date at a time is questionable, but no one said anything about sticking to one dessert. With the Platto Di Dolci ($14), you’ve got four classic Italian desserts at a go – Lava Cake, Crème Brûlée, Panna Cotta and Tiramisu. Ah, love has never been sweeter. Buon appetito!

Beach Road Kitchen manages to give the classic American dish, chicken and waffles, a local twist with their Hainan Chicken Waffle ($9). Though chicken rice is nothing with, well, rice, Beach Road Kitchen’s novel creation is one worth trying. It comes with a fluffy waffle topped with cucumbers, poached chicken, a perfectly gooey fried egg, and some spicy sambal to bring it all together.
The restaurant also offers a international buffet spread ($42++ for breakfast, $58++ for lunch and $78++ for dinner), so be sure to visit on an empty stomach!
