You know, I know, everyone knows: staying at home all day can be shiok at first but soon gets pretty darn dull. If the woes of WFH are getting the better of you, there are plenty of alternatives for a quick escape, with free study spaces and work-from-hotel facilities. From 28th June 2021 onwards, there’s also MangaWork, a brand new Japanese-themed working space to check out.

While it looks like we won’t be able to fit in a quick holiday to the land of sushi this year, you can just as well make believe you’re in the middle of Tokyo with the Muji-like interior of MangaWork.
Located just a two-minute walk away from Farrer Park MRT, this is possibly June’s best gift to North-Easties. Pop in to pick from one of their four Japanese-influenced rooms, each with power sockets, high-speed internet, and a complimentary use of a tablet.

Their private rooms come in four configurations, each offering different types of tables and seats to choose from. Pick a room fitted with a proper study desk and office chair if you’re looking for employee-of-the-month worthy work, or bean bags if you’re just here to have a chill reading sesh.

It’s called MangaWork for a reason too – other than providing a conducive working environment, there are also free manga books available in the main lobby area for a quick break.

Popular hits available include Fullmetal Alchemist, Fairy Tail and One Piece, just to name a few. Don’t worry – they’re available in English and Chinese, so you’ll still be able to enjoy them if your Japanese skills are limited to konnichiwa.
More books are expected to be brought in once the store opens.

While the full price list of MangaWork has yet to be announced, you can expect hourly rates that begin from $5/hour; affordable enough for a day of work, or a quick manga binge during the weekend or school holidays.
For those still stuck in a WFH arrangement even as Phase 3 returns, consider MangaWork at Farrer Park for a refreshing change of environment. Their website isn’t live yet but you can check out their Facebook page for more information on the upcoming opening.
