Light festivals such as illumi Singapore are always a hit, with their pretty light installations and IG-worthy photo ops. If you’ve yet to hear of Luna Lights Wonderland, it’s a popular family-friendly attraction that travels around Malaysia. Earlier this year, Luna Lights Wonderland was in JB and has recently made its way to the vibrant state of Penang.
Luna Lights Wonderland is the largest light installation in Malaysia and has won said title in the Malaysia Book of Records. The moving carnival tours across Malaysia and has made its way into states like JB, Terengganu, and Malacca. The lights are currently shining in Penang from now till 27th October.
The wonderland is open daily, from 7pm-12am. Tickets can be purchased at the event itself, at RM15/adult and RM8/child for kids below 12. If you’re going cashless, you can pay using the Touch’n Go e-wallet app (App Store | Google Play).
Luna Lights Wonderland is located in Riverpark-AutoCity, Perai. It’s a 45-minute drive from Penang International Airport, and we recommend booking a Grab, which will cost around RM35.
To get to Penang, hop on a 1.5-hour direct flight via Scoot from S$183. Alternatively, there’s also the 12-hour KTMB train ride for less than S$50.
The light installations are lit with 1.4 million LED bulbs, while the wonderland is decked with photo-op spots as well as a carnival with kid-friendly games and food trucks.
The park is decorated with colourful lights and larger-than-life inflatables, divided into 5 themes to explore: space, ocean, romance, animals, and a mystical forest.
Some picture-worthy spots to look out for are the Love Tunnel, Star Wars Tunnel, and Aurora Love River, so don’t forget to pose for the ‘Gram.

The wonderland sees something new this round with their theme: Luna’s Cat Playground. Spot cat and tiger inflatables all around the park. Even better, you can take your fur babies on a stroll as the park allows free entry for cats, as long as you leash them up.
If you’re here on a date, you won’t want to miss out on the romantic picnic area. So prepare the picnic mats and snacks and find yourself a comfortable spot. It’s right next to the Love Tunnel as well – how fitting.
There are also kid-friendly activities inside to entertain the young ones. Drive around with them in neon-lit cars or watch them go wild at the giant inflatable playground.
An evening of fun calls for some food to cure dem hunger pangs. Spot the various stalls selling mouth-watering Malaysian street food and refreshing beverages.
If you’re wandering the streets with nothing else on your Penang itinerary, now’s the time to check out Luna Lights Wonderland. Whether you’re travelling solo, with bae or the fam, the beautiful light installations will be the ones wow-ing you throughout the night.
