You Can Now Go Glamping For 2D1N At Kampong Gelam, On Former Palace Grounds Instead Of The Usual Staycay

Glamping at Kampong Gelam

Chances are you’ve gone on, or at the very least, dreamt of going on a staycation for a quick getaway. But instead of the usual hotels, try something novel this time around: glamping. Not one on the beach or in parks though!

From 15th to 25th December 2020, you can now have a 2D1N glamping experience in Kampong Gelam, priced at $450 for five people, or $90/pax.

Glamping under the stars with projector movie screenings

While we usually go to the Bugis area to grab IG shots at Arab Street or shop at Haji Lane, this time around, try visiting the gorgeous Malay Heritage Centre (MHC) for a one-of-a-kind glamping trip.

Fun fact: the MHC used to be a Malay palace back in the 19th century for Sultans.

Each night, there’ll be two cosy tents set up. One’s furnished with two queen-sized beds and a hammock for snoozing. The other is complete with amenities like a projector screen, bean bags and speaker for a dreamy movie night under the stars.

Quite unlike the usual idea of camping, you can expect a more luxurious experience here with fresh linens, decorative lights, a fan for ventilation and best of all, a portable air-conditioner to keep things cool.

Good news, both tents are exclusively for you and your gang as the MHC will only be accepting one booking per night (for up to five pax). That means you’ll have the place all to yourself. You may also be glad to know that the tents, beddings and props will be thoroughly cleansed, sanitised and disinfected after each group leaves.

Enjoy Kampong Glam tours and yoga classes

Expect a flurry of cultural activities lined up as part of the 2D1Nitinerary, to pepper up your stay.

On Day 1, go on a guided heritage tour of Kampong Glam precinct to visit Haji Lane’s local bakers and tea makers. After, embark on a guided tour of the MHC galleries, to check out exhibits such as Urang Banjar: Heritage and Culture of the Banjar in Singapore.

For dinner, indulge in a traditional Malay feast cooked outdoors by your very own private chef. Don’t worry, you’ll have time to enjoy the movie night facilities before bedtime, Netflix account provided!

End your stay with a beginner’s yoga class and breakfast before checking out the next morning.
