Jubilee Park: Next-Level Playground In Fort Canning With Slides & Obstacle Courses For Outdoorsy Kids

Jubilee Park, Fort Canning Park

Any parent would know that neighbourhood playgrounds are a staple for the kiddos. But returning to the same set of swings and slides every week can grow dull after a while. Boasting winding hilltop slides, sandpits, and an obstacle course, Fort Canning Park’s Jubilee Park seriously elevates the playground experience.

So, if your little ones are itching for adventure, the lil’ balls of energy are sure to find their tireless spirits satiated here.

A playground paradise for little ones

Spunky daredevils, meet the wooden obstacle course. Forget Minecraft parkour; here, their dexterity will be put to the test as they leap, climb, and balance atop the vicinal log structures. You’ll find a section suitable for toddlers as well, whilst older kids can enjoy the more challenging portion of the course.

It’s BYOB time – bring your own buckets, that is. Featuring several sandpits, there’s no need to travel down to a beach for some sandcastle fun. Don’t wish for your car to turn into a gritty nightmare when heading home? Easy –  simply wash away the stubborn grains with the two conveniently located taps along the sand area.

Even as an adult, the sight of a web swing excites my inner child. With bucket swings for the tiniest of tots and inclusive swings for those who are wheelchair-bound, the playground presents accessible options for everyone.

Intrepid younglings can enjoy scaling the climbing net structure. Take note that the nets are not bouncy, so don’t expect a trampoline experience.

Like most playgrounds, you’ll find slides, see-saws, and rope bridges at this park. Making use of the hilly ground, some of the slides are especially lengthy and much steeper than your average neighbourhood playground slide.

An abundance of lush greenery

Soak up the striking greens during playtime – your kid’s eyesight will be thankful to be away from the screen. With a strong nature element, there’s logs and boulders aplenty. A refreshing break from the usual urbanised playgrounds, this park offers boundless photo ops.

Feel free to venture deeper within the area if you wish to explore a little. As one of nine gardens in Fort Canning, Jubilee Park is the most kid-friendly of the lot. Hit up Pancur Larangan or Raffles Garden, the two in closest proximity, and spot the lighthouse and black-and-white Raffles House at the latter.

Parents can also rest on the glider swing sets, nestled right next to the obstacle course and swings. As these swings are made of metal, they may be too hot for your liking under the afternoon sun. We recommend arriving before 10.30AM or from the early evening onwards if you don’t wish to be grilled by the swings.

If you’re after some tranquillity, opt for an early morning visit to avoid the crowds.

Catch a breath at Jubilee Park

Only a minute’s walk from Fort Canning MRT (Exit B), Jubilee Park is a breeze to get to. Once the kiddos are exhausted, pop into the renowned Tiong Bahru Bakery Foothills – only a 3-minute walk away – for a tasty refuel. You can also find a toilet facility around the corner too.

A pocket of green amongst the bustle of downtown Singapore, be sure to add Jubilee Park to your repertoire of kid-friendly must-visits.

Address: River Valley Road, Clemenceau Avenue
