We may not have the insanely tempting salted-egg yolk croissants featured by our Malaysian friend Rebecca Saw on our sunny island yet. But we do have a whole bunch of food that look just as delicious. And we’re reminded of that on Instagram everyday. In the wonderful realm of #foodporn, certain dishes reign supreme. Even if we’ve never tasted them before, the mere sight of the delectable shots have us double-tapping fiercely while our tummy provides a reaction just as approving.
Here are 30 of the best and sexiest foods that always garner an explosive amount of likes on Instagram. Are they worth the hype, or do they make for nothing more than a pretty picture? We decided to go one step further and rate them. Now it’s time to see which food lives up to the hype.
And no matter what, your IG page will look mighty delicious.
Liu sha baos are an age-old favourite, and a certain genius decided one fine day to give it an angmoh twist. Dig into the crispy slices of French toast and let the rich and flavourful golden goodness all flow out…I’ll gladly have this for breakfast for the rest of my life, thanks.

There’s nothing quite like giving your wobbly egg a gentle poke to unleash the flood of yolk. Eggs Benedict may be the original go-to, but modern remakes feature everything from smoked salmon and hashed beef to replace the classic ham and English muffin. Our personal favourite? Mon Bijou’s crab cake benedict.

Black is the new black, as foods take on the darkest shade possible. Charcoal is one of the biggest trends but fret not, the flavour is super subtle and certainly won’t taste like you’re chewing on an actual lump of charcoal. The charcoal-infused waffles balance out the creaminess of the ice cream and the sharp sweet-savoury mix of the salted egg yolk sauce.

There’s so much to love about these deep-fried sticks of doughy goodness. With the churros hype taking over Singapore, special flavours are popping up left and right from cream cheese to nut-crusted. This is what a legit burger is all about. Hefty stacks of meat, oozing melted cheese and BACON. Lots of it. All held together by a fragrant toasted bun and some fresh veggies, just for good measure. When it comes to burgers, there’s no such thing as light and gentle. Get in there, and get messy.

These “thousand layer” cakes are so delicately put together, the light cream and paper-thin folds of crepe practically melt in your mouth upon each bite. While I’m a sucker for the original flavour of fresh cream, I recently got to try the chocolate version and, boy. You cannot miss this. For anyone who’s a fan of robust chocolate flavours, this is indulgence at its finest.

Getting together with your mates and kicking it over some drinks is great. What’s even better though, are quirky cocktails that will get the conversation flowing and make for an epic Instagram post at the end of the night. A custom-made mango and gin concoction sounds tasty, sure. But serve it in a kopitiam-style takeaway bag and the coolness level just got amplified threefold.

Although it’s not yet available on our sunny shores, this dim sum trend from Hong Kong is such a massive hit that our feeds have been flooded with the affable little egg.
It’s the quirky and adorable Japanese character that’s taken the world by storm. The first ever cafe dedicated to Gudetama dishes opened in Hong Kong and fans are eating this trend up on an international level. Never mind that it features bodily egestions.
What is it about humans that makes us want to devour food made to simulate a creature puking and pooping? Your guess is as good as mine.
