As we approach the end of May, school’s finally out, which means parents nationwide will be tasked with keeping the kids meaningfully occupied for the upcoming holidays. Well, those residing in the east are in luck, as they can always make a trip down to i12 Katong for a day of wholesome family fun.
This June is no different, as the mall will play host to the Festival of F.U.N, giving visitors even more options to spend some good ol’ quality time with the fam. With a huge indoor roller-skating rink and a thrift shop pop-up featuring children’s apparel, here’s what you can expect at i12 Katong from now till 30th June 2024.

Headlining the Festival of F.U.N will be the Sk8erMania indoor roller-skating rink. Whether you’re a complete novice or a seasoned skater, anyone aged 6 and up will be able to whiz across the colourful rink.
You’ll want to head down to i12 Katong’s Level 1 Atrium anytime between 11am-8pm, from 7th-17th June 2024, to slap on a pair of wheels to show off your sick moves.
Even if you’re a beginner, don’t worry. There’ll be skating instructors going around teaching visitors how to not land on your butts.

In order to gain entry to the rink, you’ve got to hit a minimum spend of $50 with a combination of 3 same-day receipts to redeem a Free-to Skate ticket, which comes complete with the appropriate skating gear. Besides having a blast yourself, keep your eyes peeled for the slalom performances put on by professional skaters happening at 12.50pm-1pm during weekends.
There’s free parking for these themed nights after 6pm, and there’ll be some restaurants operating till late too, in case you’re feeling peckish after your skate sesh.

In case the grown-ups would like the floor to themselves, there’ll also be themed-skating nights exclusive to those 15 years old and above. We’ve got word of a 90s Disco Boogie taking place on 7th June, while skaters on 8th June will get a Blast from 2000. These themed nights will be held from 8pm-11.30pm, so plan for a late night out.
If you’d rather purchase your tickets without spending $50 elsewhere within the mall, individual tickets for the rink and the themed nights will be sold on-site at Sk8terMania from $20 each.
If skating is not really your thing, then you’ll be pleased to know that there’ll be other activities to dip your toes in during the Festival of F.U.N. From now till 4th June 2024, the Singapore Council of Women’s Organizations will be taking over the Level 1 Atrium to house KidsFest.
Those looking for a wardrobe refresh can do so right here, as New2U Thrift Shop will be putting up both new and pre-loved clothes for sale. In particular, have a gander at their selection of children’s apparel. Plus, sales proceeds will go toward charitable causes so you know you’ll be doing some good when you shop here.
There’ll be a couple of interactive programmes for all to try their hand at activities too, like The Awesome Hunt, where you can take home an exclusive keychain upon completing an activity card. For those who’d like to get hands-on, take part in the complimentary art workshops that include print-making, portrait making, and fashion designing.
Swing by i12 Katong from 28th-30th June 2024, and you’ll find yourself browsing Maker’s Market intricate wares. It’s packed with locally-curated handicrafts like bags, jewellery, and adorable crochet creations. As for food options, deets are still up in the air but do know that there’ll be a number of vendors here too, for when your stomach starts rumbling after a long day of shopping.
It’s also wise to do your shopping at i12 Katong right now, as they’re rewarding shoppers with goodies for hitting certain minimum spend milestones from now till 30th June 2024.
Aside from snagging free skate sessions, the mall will be handing out attractive freebies like F&B vouchers for spending $50, $100, and $200. Visit i12 Katong’s Festival of F.U.N website to get the full breakdown of rewards.
With the Thomson-East Coast Line Stage 4 slated to be opening next month, i12 Katong is no longer an Eastie-exclusive. The mall is a stone’s throw from the new Marine Parade MRT, making it conveniently accessible for those on the other side of Singapore.
If you’re still racking your brains for things to fill your days with during the holidays without buying a plane ticket, here’s one for you. With i12 Katong’s swanky June offerings, maybe staying in Singapore this time round ain’t so bad after all.
