You Can Now Send Gifts On Grab With A Cute AR Tiger, Get Vouchers & Up To 888 Points While You’re At It

GrabGifts for CNY 2022

Reunions are a big part of celebrating Chinese New Year. It’s usually the time when those who live overseas return to say their well wishes to family members. But with everything going on, it isn’t so easy to just book a ticket to have them here in the flesh.

While their presence will surely be missed, you can let them know you’re thinking of them by sending them a gift on Grab. It’ll be specially delivered by Little Huat, an AR tiger, who’ll wish them good luck and prosperity.

Send GrabGifts on Grab

When we’re running late or feeling famished, Grab has functions to book you a car or deliver meals to your doorstep. Now, you can log in any time you want to send a gift to someone. With GrabGifts, your loved ones can receive vouchers for Grab services and selected merchants in a matter of minutes.

There’s a variety of gifts to pick from too, so you can get a more personalised option for your beau, relatives and buddies. In Singapore, satiate your bb’s bbtea cravings by sending them vouchers to CHICHA San Chen or I Love Taimei. Or get that one friend who’s never on time a discount on their Grab ride, so they won’t miss out on your next gathering.

Send your friends in the Philippines a GrabGifts Shakey’s Pizza gift voucher, a popular eatery there.

You can even send GrabGifts to loved ones in Southeast Asia. Just remember to change the location to the respective country – Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam or Thailand. These friends won’t get the same options as you’ll find in Singapore, but we hear there are local faves like Baskin-Robbins in Malaysia and Shakey’s Pizza in the Philippines available.

If this is your first time sending GrabGifts, here’s the lowdown on how it works:

  1. Click on GrabGifts on the front page of the Grab app
  2. Select the recipient of your GrabGifts from your contact list
  3. Choose three voucher options; your recipient will get to pick one
  4. Set the voucher amount you want to gift
  5. Hit send to immediately deliver the voucher to their Grab account

For CNY this year, GrabGifts come with a greeting from Little Huat. The tiny tiger mascot is an AR filter, and will be dressed in his best Mandarin-collared garb to usher in the new year.

To activate this cutie, recipients will have to view their greeting in AR. Their smartphone’s camera will then be switched on for them to search for a spot to place Little Huat. A single tap later and voila, they’ll see the adorable cat wishing them gongxi gongxi.

Celebrate CNY with GrabGifts

Now that you’re an expert in sending GrabGifts, start sending them to as many friends as you can to receive rewards from Grab from now till 15th February. Hit your first milestone with your first two GrabGifts – you’ll get 888 GrabRewards points added to your account. Send another three and you’ll get a $10 GrabFood voucher.

It’s yet another year of having to deal with the ‘rona and finicky travel plans to have our loved ones with us. Long distances aside, we at least have technology to bridge that gap. With GrabGifts, your loved ones, whether across the island or the ocean, will know how much you mean to them with this gesture.
