‘Tis the festival of angbaos, yu shengs, and catching up with your friends and family. That’s right, the season of huat is well upon us. If you’re a busy bee organising reunion dinners at your home this year, take advantage of Giant’s ongoing CNY deals and promotions.
Available from now till 9th February 2024, these discounts on CNY classics like abalone and scallops will be a giant wallet-saver. So prepare your shopping baskets; it’s time to be a host/hostess with the mostest.
CNY celebrations aren’t complete if you haven’t had a steamboat dinner or two. And the choice of soup base is what makes or breaks your dinner – so opt for a fuss-free and delicious solution with the Haidilao hot pot sauce or soup base at just 3 for $9.80 (U.P. $11.85).
Once you’ve settled your soup base, it’s time to get the ingredients. Seafood lovers can get the Sunshine Wild Caught Scallops at 2 for $40 (U.P. $85.80) at a whopping 53% off, or the Frozen Thawed Abalone ($2.50/5 pieces) for $10 off. Abalone symbolises prosperity, so stock up on these for maximum huat this year.

The Yu Pin King Whole Shrimp Wanton ($9.80 for 2) are also a must-have at any steamboat. These items are exclusively available at Giant and help to add a tonne of flavour to your soup so you’re left with a tasty broth at the end of the meal.
The adorably shaped Tian Tian Shi Pin Dumplings ($10 for 2) are a sure hit amongst the kiddos; they taste just as good as they look. Then, throw in the New Moon Golden Roll ($4.90/2 packs) that’s 22% off – these are bite-sized and quick to cook.
We can’t forget about the veggies. Head to the fresh produce section; you can save 20% on assorted leafy vegetables ($3.60/3 packs) and save up to $1.50 on mushrooms ($1.95/3 packs). Now you’ve got your daily intake of vegetables settled too.
It’s never too late to start prepping for your reunion dinners. For those who’ve opted to stay home and DIY your steamboat, consider getting your ingredients from Giant. Not only are there plenty of fresh options to choose from, there are also tonnes of deals you can score while shopping. Huat ah!
