While spring in Spain is still a few months away, those of us in Singapore can get a glimpse of the famous Spanish garden blooms as well as iconic landmarks at Gardens by the Bay right now.
This October, the Flower Dome is being transformed into the region of Andalusia in southern Spain, with the ongoing display – A Spanish Serenade with Sunflowers.
Spain’s iconic Royal Alcázars of Seville has a famous courtyard known as Patio de las Doncellas showing off rare Hispano-Muslim architecture. While this UNESCO world heritage site is definitely worth a visit IRL, for now, you can snap photos of the replica at the Flower Dome for the ‘Gram.
Soak in the vibrant hues of sunflowers and other popular Spanish garden flowers like pelargoniums, petunias, roses and camellias which will be in full bloom throughout the month.

Imagine a city where all the private houses have patios. Córdoba is one such city in Spain, famous for its patio houses which are heavily decorated with flowers every year during the festival known as Fiesta de los Patios. Walk your way through the unique patio houses and you might be inspired to create your very own vertical garden.
Photo ops aside, you can also catch some live entertainment with the free Spanish Cultural Programmes. Flamenco sin Fronteras, a group dance performance, will be happening on 23rd October at 2pm and 4pm at the Flower Field Hall.
On 14th October, enjoy An Evening with Duo Belcorde featuring tunes played with the Spanish violin and guitar, at 7pm at the Supertree Grove. Both events are free but chope your spot through advance online bookings.
Even Pablo Picasso makes an appearance at the Flower Dome in the form of a bronze statue, a replica of the statue which sits in the Plaza de la Merced in the artist’s hometown of Malaga. In this section, you can learn more about him and discover how his hometown inspired his art.
At the South American Garden, view the ladies in traditional Flamenco garb and learn more about the dance form which has over 200 years of history.
Pastel Nagomi is a Japanese art style.

Not many of us have frolicked about in sunflower fields, let alone visited these iconic Spanish landmarks. A Spanish Serenade with Sunflowers is a great chance to “visit Spain” and learn more about the Español culture without having to fly to Europe.
