Fans of football or soccer will be familiar with a modified version of the sport that is played by adults and kids alike. We’re talking about futsal, of course – a fun team game that can easily be played with just a handful of players, not requiring the full team of 11 on each side.
Even if you don’t play, you may have passed by a futsal court now and then and thought about taking up the sport. Well, we’re here to tell you all you need to know about futsal courts in Singapore – which ones are free and which ones require bookings – so you can unleash your inner Cristiano Ronaldo.
Table of Contents
Although you can play football at a futsal court, these courts serve different purposes. A football field is the huge one you see during the World Cup season that can fit 11-a-side per team. Football fields are most commonly covered in natural or artificial grass. A futsal court, on the other hand, is covered in parquet or synthetic material. Because of that, it provides more friction than natural grass.
Due to Singapore’s smol size though, people also play football in futsal courts that are covered in grass, so the terms “futsal” and “football” are often used interchangeably.
Most futsal courts in Singapore are a standard 5-a-side pitch, but if there are more people, a slightly bigger pitch that can accommodate 6 or even 7-a-side would be booked. Otherwise, you can also check out these multi-purpose free open fields in Singapore.
Prices for booking a futsal court depend on a few factors:
Each booking is usually 2 hours long. However, some courts do offer hourly bookings.
Since the synthetic turf used for futsal courts has more friction than natural grass, don’t go around slide tackling unless you want to walk away with some nasty cuts. Something else you’d need is your own futsal ball – you can get affordable ones that range from $10 on Shopee, such as the Mitre Deltamax Football or Ferrari Metallic Soccer Ball.
Here’s an overview of how much a booking at a futsal pitch in Singapore typically costs.

This is a list of free public street futsal courts when you just wanna have a casual kickabout with your kakis. Just remember to be mindful of noise levels to avoid disturbing residents. Most courts will turn off the lights at 10pm to signal that the courts are closed.
Since these are public futsal courts, it is common for strangers to pop by and join the game, so if the court is full, simply take turns using the court.

You may have seen this colourful futsal court in Singapore on Instagram. Dubbed the Tobyato Court, it’s located between blocks 434 and 437 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10. It’s the lovechild of a partnership between gaming giants EA Sports, La Liga, and local street artist Tobyato to encourage grassroots football.
If you look at the court from the birds-eye POV, it features a slick design of motifs that form the outline of a dragon.

The Jalan Rajah street soccer court is located beside Block 101, alongside a canal, making your kickabout session a little more cooling and shiok in the hot weather.
Located on the rooftop of Block 44A Beo Crescent’s car park is a futsal court in Singapore that has old, worn-out walls, making you feel like you’re playing in Sao Paulo. TBH, playing here will make you feel like you’re reliving your childhood game of FIFA Street.

The Petir Street soccer court isn’t your run-of-the-mill futsal court; it is decorated with yellow-shaped motifs, complemented with black strokes. Plus, there’s a sheltered basketball court right next to it if you want to switch sports mid-way.

The court at 852 Woodlands Street 83 is long and narrow, with gates fenced up high to prevent the ball from flying out. This makes it ideal to practise long shots. It’s also installed with a sound-dampening fencing system, preventing residents on the other side from being disturbed.

If you feel cramped out from smaller courts, 30 New Upper Changi Road’s futsal court offers a bigger change of gameplay and scenery. Its cheerful colours also take it up a notch.

If Pasir Ris is your hood, check out Costa Ris Futsal Court with its urban street style aesthetic. Located under the tracks of the East-West Line, it’s mostly sheltered from the sun, so one won’t feel too hot when they’re balling out in the street.

If you’re looking to play footy on grass for free, visit Teban Gardens Street Soccer Court. Renovated in 2024, it is one of the few futsal pitches in Singapore that use artificial grass instead of a hard court. Although the fence is visibly lower, there’s an overhead netting system in place so the ball doesn’t hit nearby residents.

Senja Woods Futsal Court is another rare public court with grass. It’s slightly bigger than Teban Gardens, but doesn’t have an overhead net, so don’t anyhow whack the ball sky high.
You may be aware of ActiveSG facilities such as ActiveSG gyms and swimming pools that are open to the public. Their facilities include futsal courts as well. Though not as many as badminton courts or basketball courts, we’ve found a few notable ones that are worth your buck.
Make a booking online via the ActiveSG website or app using your Singpass login. The slots are released daily at midnight, so fastest fingers first. You can book it 14 days before your preferred date.
Go to “Book Facility” and select “Soccer” and select “Futsal”, “5-a-side”, or “7-a-side”. Choosing “Soccer” at the end will lead you to book the large 11-aside football fields. Then, select your desired venue, date, and time.
