1. Roasted chicken with potatoes

No Christmas dinner is complete without a showstopping centrepiece – usually a succulent serving of meat. The rest of the world agrees too, as you’ve got the folks over in Japan indulging in KFC, while a roast pig makes its rounds around the dining table in the Philippines. Similarly, a whole roasted chicken with potatoes feeds many, and is not too hard to prepare.

  • 4 potatoes
  • 1 onion
  • 1 garlic
  • 20g rosemary

  • 1 tbsp vinegar
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

Steps:

  1. Season the cut potatoes with your preferred spices and herbs, then do the same for the whole chicken.
  2. Preheat the oven to 200°C, then pop them in the oven for 20 minutes.
  3. Roast until the chicken is no longer pink at the bone, and allow the juices to run clear.

2. Ham & potato wreath

If cooking isn’t your forte, you might find baking a tad too cumbersome. Especially when dealing with bakes that are temperature-sensitive, you’ll find that they tend to be a time sink if you don’t know what you’re doing. Instead, first-time bakers can try their hand at this ham and potato wreath, one of the easier Christmas recipes that uses frozen puff pastry from FairPrice to make it look all the more atas.

  4. Then, spread the potato mixture onto the pastry along with ham slices, and bake it in a preheated oven for 15 minutes at 200°C.

The Christmas ham is another mainstay of holiday feasts. These Yule ham sandwiches infuse a generous serving of cold cuts with an Asian touch, by encapsulating its flavours with a steamed bao.
