It’s not uncommon for the young-at-heart to binge-watch Disney classics. In fact, many of us grew up with Disney’s Mickey Mouse and friends, which serve as a dose of whimsy even as we venture into our adulthood.
So, if you’re hoping to relive some good ol’ memories while snapping pictures for your next IG post, check out the Pop-Up Disney! A Mickey Celebration exhibition from now till 20th March 2022.
Expect seven Instagrammable Mickey-themed rooms for loads of photo ops, and a range of Disney-inspired merchandise. You’ll also get to take part in the Pop-Up Disney! Trivia activity with prizes to take home, interactive art exhibits, and fun activities while getting transported to the yesteryears of Disney.
Besides being decked out with colourful bows and hearts, Mickey & Minnie’s Love room also features a larger-than-life bow sofa for you to cosy up with your partner for a romantic pic. While you’re at it, look out for hidden Minnies on the walls!
Fret not if your OOTD doesn’t come with any hair accessories. Head over to the polka dot wallpaper and strike a pose with Minnie Mouse’s iconic bow, making sure to hover right below it for the perfect illusion.
While you may not be born in the same era as Mickey Mouse – who made his theatrical debut all the way back in 1928 – you’ll still be able to get up close with a swath of black and white comic strips of the classic Mickey era in the It All Started With A Mouse exhibit.
“Steer” Mickey’s boat or take a “hectic” ride in Mickey’s airplane
You won’t just get to admire these black and white comics from afar. With life-size interactive displays, you’ll be able to step into the world of Steamboat Willie and reenact iconic moments from the comics.
If you’ve watched Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, you would know that Mickey and his friends have an unbreakable bond. At Mickey’s Friendships, you’ll be able to dive into the life of Mickey and his pals.
While you won’t actually get to colour some portraits, you’ll get to pose with life-sized crayons.
Step into the enchanting world of Sorcerer Mickey’s Magic room. Temporarily transported to Sorcerer Mickey’s time in Fantasia, you’ll be graced with a LED pathway that leads you into the mystical tunnel engulfed in moons, stars and a whole lot of magic.
Full of fluorescent light displays, this room offers you a range of dreamlike set-ups to give you that “Fantasmic” glow when snapping that pose.
The Mickey Loves Singapore: Dreamland Carnival room has unique Singaporean touches everywhere, including traditional snacks and delicacies.
Be sure to head over to the POP Fancygem Cart to admire the cute and colourful display of mini iced gem treats.
As a little side quest or to keep your kiddos entertained, play a game of hide and seek where you’ll need to search for Mickey and his friends behind 21 secret red doors within the art mural.
Created by homegrown artists WhenIWasFour, this room showcases a slew of murals that depict iconic landmarks in Singapore – such as Gardens By The Bay and the Merlion. Try and see if you can spot them all!
Before heading off to the next room, have a go at creating your own masterpiece and see it plastered alongside WhenIWasFour’s art mural. All you need to do is scan the QR code and begin DIY-ing on your mobile phone.
Once you’re done with your artwork, sign your name and display it on the mural with a click of a button. Don’t forget to download a copy of your masterpiece to take home as a digital souvenir.
While we spend a good amount of time reminiscing about Mickey Mouse at this exhibition, the Forever Mickey room gives a futuristic look into Mickey’s universe and the countless moments that have yet to come.
The grand metallic Mickey Mouse display, surrounded by a plethora of colourful iconic Mickey ear hats, is something you won’t miss when you enter the room.
For those of you who’ve had the privilege to go to Hong Kong Disneyland, you’ll probably remember the range of delicious Mickey-shaped treats.
If you haven’t had the opportunity to tuck into some delicious Mickey Bubble Egg Puffs just yet, Mickey at Disneyland brings to you a larger-than-life version of this sweet treat. You and your friends will get to have a hilarious Honey I Shrunk The Kids moment for the ‘Gram.
Challenge yourself with some good ol’ trivia, and you could stand to win attractive prizes.
All you have to do is scan the QR code found in each themed room, punch in your 10-digit ticket number, and score at least three correct answers to redeem a prize.
Once you get three points across the board, make your way to the Redemption Counter located on the right of the Entrance and scan the final QR code to unveil a virtual scratch card. Be sure to show proof of the prize page with your ticket to the counter to verify and lock in your prize.
Note: Follow @PopUpDisneySG to keep up to date when prizes are announced.
Commemorate this event by picking up a little souvenir from Mickey Mart, an experiential retail store.
With a wide selection of Mickey-themed merchandise, including Singapore-exclusive collaborations, you’ll be able to take home limited edition collectibles such as XM Studios’ “Mickey Around the World” figurines and Disneyland curated gifts like Sorcerer Mickey and Minnie Mouse Headbands.
You’ll also be able to stock up on Mickey-themed home appliances like Mayer’s Mickey Loves SG Handheld Fan and Air Fryer – so you’ll have Mickey and his pals in various aspects of your daily life.
