17 Deadly Sins that stop you from doing work

17 Things you rather do than work

Deadlines, deadlines and more deadlines. The more we have to do, the more we tend to procrastinate. The more we procrastinate, the more we would try to convince ourselves that we are doing something useful.

Honestly speaking, are we really doing something useful or are we just delaying time? Here are 17 deadly sins we are all guilty of doing.

1. Surf the Net

Sometimes I do wonder, what’s up with the internet which keeps us coming back for more, unknowingly.

2. Watch TV

It started with the first few episodes on your laptop. Then, episodes became seasons and before you know it…

and when your laptop and your back finally gave in …

Ain’t nothing gonna stop me from watching TV!

3. Beat your own high score… AGAIN!

Those games which you would considered lame on a normal day basis would suddenly become so fun such that, you have to beat the high score otherwise you won’t die in peace.

Or maybe you told yourself you will stop once you get that high score. But that was yesterday. It’s now time ot beat your new high score!

4. Observe yourself

Face it, there is no face more beautiful in the world than your own.

It’s always good to know what you look like when you talk to others. But then again..

5. Observe yourself… making faces

This is the evolved version of point 4. It’s no longer just enough to observe your face, so spend some time looking at yourself making quirky expressions! You could always say you’re exercising your facial muscles if caught.

6. Taking Selfies

I’m sure after the facial workout, you would have find the prefect expression for a selfie. Oh yea, time to show your friends the best picture out of the 50 pictures you just took.

Just make sure there aren’t any photo bombers around.

Or a train in this case.  (Viideeo)

7. Eat

Some eat for subsistence, others eat just so they don’t have to do what they have to do for a while longer.

Just remember to chew

8. Exercise

This is actually one of the productive things you can do, except for the last picture.

 Exercising with friends

Or alone on a treadmill,

Or lying down

9. Look out the Window

Sometimes, you just need to drive some creative juices up to your brain, relax a little and take in what’s happening outside.

You’ll know it’s time to get back to your work when you start to see a giraffe.

10. Read

Your work probably involves a lot of reading. So what better way to start by reading something completely irrelevant to it.

11. Contact Long Lost Friends

They’ll probably raise suspicious against you but who can blame you for checking up on your cousin’s first wife’s son’s friend?

12. Start to help out with the chores

Your mother just spent the whole afternoon slaving over the stove, it’s about time you do something for her. Why not help her with the chores?

13. Suddenly Germophobic

The world has suddenly become a lot more dangerous and what better time to investigate than now.

14. Dance

With all the work ahead of us, its time to celebrate with a pre-work dance!

 or Twerk

Ok that’s enough internet for the day.

15. Take up a New Skill

As curious human beings, we should be open to learning new skills, like Yoga…

You know it’s time to stop trying if your dog do Yoga better then you.

or maybe Making Pancakes?

16. Prank others

Playing a prank is a joyful act for everyone. And by everyone we mean everyone but the victim.

Here’s the flower” you asked for!

17. Nap

If all else fail, it’s time for a nap. After all, there’s nothing a nap can’t solve!

Conclusion

Getting distracted, and putting off our deadlines happens to everyone. You do it, I do it, even your Mom does it. We are only human and procrastinating is in our nature. However that doesn’t mean you should give yourself a pat in the back for doing so.

I hope this list helped identify some of the excuses we give ourselves in the name of not doing work. Do try getting back on track with your work. It isn’t going anywhere no matter how long you delay it.

Maybe you can start right after you read one more TSL article!

Tan Shi Hui

Easy going, overly optimistic and slightly wacky are definitely phrases one can use to describe this extremely excitable individual here. Strongly believing in the joy of laughing at yourself over laughing at others, Shi Hui is also a person who can be overly dramatic at times. With that said, don't be shock if she suddenly decide to break out into an act in the middle of the streets. In fact, be prepared. Told you she's a little nutty. If you like to see Shi Hui's narcissistic side, head over to her Beauty & Lifestyle blog:
