Singapore may be the world’s 2nd most vegan-friendly city, but still, vegan options often come at hefty prices. So for all the vegans who are on a budget and wish to switch things up from all-veg cai fan, this list eateries with meals under $10 is for you.
P.S. All the eateries in this list are 100% vegan. So go ahead and order anything you want!
I used to think vegan adaptations of dishes wouldn’t match up to non-vegan originals, but I was proven wrong here. If no one told me, I wouldn’t have known that Rojak Line’s Vegan Rojak (from $4) was missing the standard shrimp paste.
While the pair behind Rojak Line remain tight-lipped on their homemade concoction, we hear plum sauce, fermented bean paste, and Indonesian sweet soy sauce might be part of it. The only telltale difference from normal rojak sauce? This one’s less salty.

Meat lovers have loads of choices from Genki Sushi to Shiok Maki for a sushi fix, but our vegan friends aren’t short of options either. Create Healthy Lifestyle serves up a unique Organic Vegetable Sushi Roll ($4.50), made up of 100% raw organic vegetables.
The sushi’s ultra crunchy veg quickly got me munching away. With a distinct basil fragrance and sweet sauce that added extra flavour, this made for one refreshing and addictive meal. If going vegan means I could eat this everyday, I really wouldn’t mind.
Besides the Chinese-style offerings on their menu, look out for their Japanese-inspired dishes like Organic Soba Cold Noodle ($6). This is one eatery that isn’t stingy with their ingredients – the soba is hidden under that mini mountain of crunchy raw vegetables and seaweed.
While the secret white sesame seed dressing tasted more peanutty than anything, it gave the otherwise bland soba a new dimension of taste.

Going vegan doesn’t mean giving up your hawker favourites, ‘cause you’ll still be able to get them at Genesis Vegan Restaurant.
Besides switching up thick beehoon, eggs, and fishcake for wholegrain organic noodles and mushroom mock meat, their Nonya Laksa ($6.90) gravy comes with turmeric. +10 points for fragrance and health benefits – turmeric is rich in antioxidants and contains as much anti-inflammatory properties as some medications!
The turmeric taste was faint, but I loved the fragrant laksa gravy. Special mention goes to the mushroom mock meat – while it won’t trick your tastebuds into thinking it’s meat, it’s sweet and packs a chewy texture.

Veganburg’s pretty popular amongst the vegan community, and not without reason – we hear their Char-Grilled Satay Burger ($9.90) tastes pretty legit for a soy patty! Coupled with the ultra rich and nutty satay sauce, your taste buds will be fooled into thinking this is actually meat. Plus, the patty’s pan-grilled and is GMO-free too.

After reading rave reviews about New Green Pasture Cafe’s Sri Lanka Roll ($8.50), my hopes were high – and this combo of curried potatoes and vegetables in a toasted tortilla wrap didn’t disappoint.
It’s drizzled with homemade vegan mayo for extra flavour!
I liked that the curried potatoes were fragrant without being too oily, though they could have been heavier on the spice. A good mix of creamy, crunchy, and crispy textures, this roll more than satisfied my tastebuds. Plus points for the still-warm tortilla wrap too!
Try their Vietnam Roll ($8.50) too, which is basically chopped raw vegetables and basil wrapped in rice paper. Hints of ginger and sweet sauce are obvious here, and though I’m not a fan of ginger, its slightly pungent flavour went surprisingly well with the sweetness of the sauce.
P.S.: Complete your meal with a bowl of traditional Chinese soup, available for a small donation of $1 (with meal, $2 without meal)! All donations go to the Vegetarian Society of Singapore.

Going vegan means you can’t get your Burger King and KFC burger fix any more, but nomVnom just proves vegans can still enjoy a top quality meatless burger. And with burgers that are supposedly 15% bigger than those of rival fast food outlets, missing out on BK and KFC suddenly doesn’t seem so bad after all.
Nailing the aesthetics game with its bright purple blue pea flowers is the Vola Flora burger ($8.90). Thumbs up for the potato patties, deep-fried to perfection. Crispy on the outside and creamy inside, they were so tasty that I forgot no meat was in the equation.
The flowers are edible too! They’ve got a faint sweetness, so you’re better off eating them alone to savour them fully.

Tip: go for the soupy version! The soup is flavoured with sweet corn, giving it a light sweetness you can’t find elsewhere.

Vegans can now have a field day with these cheap options that aren’t suspiciously flour-tasting mock meats, or oil-soaked vegetables from the economical rice stall. And even if you’re not vegan, do try some of them out if you need a short “detox” from meat and dairy – you’ll be saving the earth, and a fair amount of moolah at the same time!
