Other than getting that first job and balloting for a BTO, driving is one of the things that many of us aim to tick off, and maybe flaunt to our friends – but first, gotta get that license.
Among the 3 official driving centres in Singapore, Bukit Batok Driving Centre (BBDC) is possibly the most popular, with less traffic in the area, and relatively high passing rates for practical tests. Having been around for more than 30 years, it’s an iconic spot where many Singaporeans, Westies or not, have headed to to pick up their Class 3 (car) or motorbike licenses.
Other than the usual classroom lessons and theory and practical prep, BBDC’s driving school is equipped with tech-savvy facilities like animated driving and crash simulators to get you all ready for the real roads.

They’re also known for their relatively affordable fees, with their enrolment cost being $96.30, the cheapest among all the official driving centres in Singapore. Prices for practice Basic Theory Tests and Final Theory Tests are more wallet-friendly than the other 2 driving centres too, at $3.21 per session for those enrolled in their school, and $5.35 for private students who want some extra practice.
Complete the course by taking practical sessions with their driving instructors ($68.48 for a 100-minute course) and nail your practical test ($209.72) to get your well-deserved driver’s license.
The nearest MRT is Bukit Gombak on the Red Line. From there, take bus 991 for 2 stops or walk 10 minutes to get to the driving centre.
