Air Japan is a budget airline under ANA, with its headquarters in Narita International Airport. It’s not new, per se, having been around since 1990 when it was first launched as World Air Network. However, it suspended operations in 1995 before relaunching again in 2001 as Air Japan. This was also when it was acquired by ANA.

In 2022, Air Japan was rebranded as a low-cost carrier, with its fleet consisting of Boeing 787-8 aircrafts. Besides Singapore, Air Japan also has routes to Bangkok and Seoul Incheon.

How long are flights from Singapore to Tokyo?

Direct flights from Singapore to Tokyo take around 7 hours. Besides Air Japan, you can also book cheap flights to Japan from airlines such as Scoot, Jetstar, AirAsia, and ZIPAIR

The Tokyo-Singapore route on Air Japan will operate 5 times a week on Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday – while Singapore-Tokyo flights are on Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Flights from $179 between Changi & Narita International Airport

Thanks to low-cost carriers like ZIPAIR and Scoot, travelling to Japan is now a lot more affordable than before. Air Japan’s one-way fares start from as low as $179, and will take you from Changi Airport to Narita International Airport.

You get to choose your own adventure from 3 different fare tiers:

  1. Simple (from S$179): Includes 7kg carry-on baggage.
  2. Standard (from S$217): Includes 7kg carry-on baggage, up to 23kg check-in baggage, and advanced assigned seating.
  3. Selected (from S$264): Includes all of the above, another check-in baggage, and in-flight meals.

Further options can be added to the Standard and Selected base fare types, so you can pick and choose what you need.

If you don’t like airline food, Air Japan might just prove you wrong. They serve bento-style meals inspired by Japanese food we all know and love – think Chicken Namban Rice Bowl (¥1,600, ~S$14.29) and Salmon Teriyaki Rice Bowl (¥1,600, ~S$14.29). They’ve even got an Omakase-style sushi box (¥2,000, ~S$17.87) with a selection of sushi styles.

For those with dietary restrictions, know that they also have the Green Curry (¥1,600, ~S$14.29) suitable for vegans, or as well as a Halal Meal (¥1,600, ~S$14.29). If you’re flying on the Simple or Standard fares, these will have to be added on. Alternatively, there’s also an in-flight purchase menu that you can order from on board.

Seat selection prices for the Singapore-Tokyo route are not released yet, but the one for the service to Seoul starts from ¥1,000 (~S$8.92).
