Everyone, meet the latest Asura Engineer added into the Fray. Enjinatastic!
Here are my first impressions of the game. It is downright FUN! I spent at least 2 hours easily last night going through the first steps of my new midget’s life in Tyria. So far I have had to quell deranged Golems attacking the town, help a local experiment with golems by simply removing or adding new parts, play a game of Golem chess. Did I also mention there was underwater battles? Yes this game, features underwater battles and the best thing of all, my weapon changes from regular guns on land to a harpoon gun under water that shoots underwater missiles ala submarine style!
Combat mechanics
The combat style is very action oriented. Once an enemy is selected, my character auto-attacks while I hold down my W,A,S,D buttons and the right click to control camera and movement. It takes a little bit of ‘micro-management’ but it can be easily learned once practiced. In battle, I was free to move around relatively easily and had the option to tap any directional key to perform a cool somersault or a dash to avoid enemy attacks. With skill, you can easily avoid 100% of the enemy’s attacks.
Weapon Skills
Yes, Skills that CHANGE with every weapon. Upon equipping a new weapon, you are left with a basic skill that is automatically assigned to you “1” key. Taking the time to hunt monsters using that gun will slowly lead you to unlocking more skills with that weapon. Confusing right? Every enemy you down leads you to learn a new skill on your own. The more you use it, the more skills you unlock (up to a maximum of 5 skills per weapon.) This is very dynamic as you can customize your playing style according to weapons and according to situations. Think of it as having two sets of skills for two sets of weapons.
Shall talk about quests in my next post. Stay tuned!
