Located in Jalan Besar, an 11-minute walk from Farrer Park MRT, The Cassette Club is Singapore’s 1st interactive cassette tape recording studio.
For anyone who grew up with cassettes, the format needs little introduction. Before CDs, MP3 players, and streaming platforms that subsequently took over, cassette tapes were a simple way to personalise a playlist and share music.
Whether you grew up fiddling with cassette tapes or are too young to know what those plastic rectangles even are, this workshop lets you turn a collection of songs and personalised voice notes into something more tangible.
What can you do at the workshop?Â

The brand’s cassette-making workshop lasts around 2 to 2.5 hours. It is fully guided, so you don’t need any prior experience with cassette tapes or recording equipment.
First, pick your cassette from 6 available colours, then choose a label sticker and J-card sleeve to match. You’ll also plan out the tracklist for both sides of the tape, so arrange your songs in the order you want them to play.

When you’re ready to record, simply connect your phone directly to the recording equipment, and play your chosen tracks from your phone. You can also record personalised voice notes to add at the beginning or end of your mixtape.
Once everything has been recorded, you’ll get to play the tape back to make sure your songs and voice notes sound right. Then comes the fun part: decorating your finished cassette with the selection of stickers and other embellishments provided at the workshop.
The whole process is guided by facilitators, with straightforward steps that make the experience easy to follow.
How can I reserve a slot for the workshop?Â

You can reserve a workshop slot via WhatsApp. It costs $89 per person, and includes the cassette tape, decorative materials, and a complimentary phone stand to help you capture behind-the-scenes footage while making your mixtape.
For an additional $30, you can add on their exclusive gift packaging, which comes with a personalised card, instructions card, portable cassette player, and a pair of earphones.
If you’re attending as a pair, duo bookings are priced at $178 and come with the same workshop inclusions, plus a free cassette player and pair of earphones. Do note that all workshops come with a 30-minute grace period.
