BreadTalk Is Turning 16 And Your Favorite Buns Are Going For ONLY $1

Feast Away With BreadTalk

Our homegrown bakery BreadTalk is celebrating their 16th Anniversary this July and they’re rewarding fans with a month-long of store promotions! Keep your eyes on the lookout for their golden week (14 – 21 July), as 16 fan-favourite buns will be on sale at ONLY $1 starting at 12.16pm daily during the promotional period. You’re familiar with their signature Flosss buns, but here’s other contenders that are well worth the try.

We had a sneak peek into their stores and here are 10 promotional treats not to be missed!

Fan-favourite Buns At $1

1. Snow White Yam

Part of the new creations that BreadTalk introduces twice a year among other seasonal launches, this was the BOMB. I love how dainty it looks among the other hearty breads. Beneath its white-as-snow exterior, you’ll find a creamy yam filling stuffed with real yam cubes.

The white dough is eggless and prepared using a traditional Tang Zhong method originated by the Japanese, which explains why the bun is more moist and chewy than those elsewhere. And if you’re wondering how the yam could be so flavourful, they are patiently steamed over low fire to retain all its natural goodness.

2. Red Bean Queen

Part of BreadTalk’s treasure trove of more than 1000 unique recipes, this is a modern twist on the typical red bean bun. They combine beans sourced from Wandan, Taiwan – famous for its cultivation of bigger and richer-flavoured red beans – with cream cheese, and it creates a distinct mix of sweet and salty flavours. You may find it jelak after a few bites, so eat it like a pie and share with your friends!

3. Sunflower

Almost as big as the size of my face, the sunflower bun is HUGE. There’s also generous servings of sunflower, pumpkin and sesame seeds sprinkled on top, which gives a refreshing crunch to this mild, nutty bread. A go-to choice for the healthy folk, it’s also an alternative breakfast option to kickstart your day!

4. Mala Chicken

This bread inspired by the mala hotpot was legit. With a strong, spicy flavour surrounding the chicken and mushroom filling, it tasted like it was made right out of China. To prevent it from being overpowering and harmful to your waistline, a healthy wheat germ dough is used, so you can indulge and feel less guilty as it’s less fattening than the usual white bread.

5. Cheese Sausage

Do justice to the cheese sausage and eat it while it’s hot! My all-time favourite item at BreadTalk, this bun is best consumed when it’s fresh out of the oven. Only then can you savour the warm cheesy filling that oozes out of the chicken sausage and melts in your mouth.

6. Chicken Parmesan

By far the most interesting bread design on offer, it looks like it was set ablaze. Crisp on one side and pillowy on the other, this bread is overflowing with cheesy goodness! What you see on top is a whole layer of shredded cheese topping, and there is even more parmesan cheese packed inside with light, creamy chicken and streaky bacon.

7. Curry Chicken

Chicken curry is one of our greatest prides in local Singaporean cuisine. And BreadTalk has helped to spread our love for curry to the international level! I found zero stinginess in the thick curry filling of their Curry Chicken. You’re bound to love the cushiony bread paired with a spicy zing that will flood your mouth.

Floss Promo – 6 for $8

8. Flosss

This is the legendary loaf that made BreadTalk famous – they’re not the first to create it, but undoubtedly the winner in baking it to perfection. Across BreadTalk’s over 800 stores worldwide, one Flosss is sold EVERY second.

On first bite, you’ll feel the softness of the bun that complements the finger-licking floss. But don’t stop, and take a second bite, as the egg cream lathered inside will leave you craving for more. I tried finding out how to recreate it, but they remain tight-lipped about their secret.

9. Fire Flosss

Kicking it up a notch, BreadTalk recreated the classic Flosss to give it a fiery aroma. With a bit of spiciness injected into the pork floss, it adds depth to the flavour. No fear if you can’t take spice, as it gives off a tangy barbecue taste that won’t set your tongue on fire.

Flosss series (from left): Fire Flosss, Flosss, Seaweed Flosss

Originally priced at $1.70, all the buns in the Flosss series will be on sale at 6 for $8 throughout the month of July. Hurry and grab one today before it sells out!

Cake Promo – 20% Off All Whole Cakes

10. Hokkaido Roll

You know how some rolls leave a dry aftertaste? Well, these won’t. One bite and I could feel that it was fine-textured of high quality. And it’s no surprise, as BreadTalk makes its cream cheese rolls with Japanese-milled flour, Hokkaido milk, and butter produced by grass-fed cows in New Zealand.

These puffy cotton-like pastries are a light treat that will delight your senses and aren’t overly sweet. BreadTalk retains lower sugar levels among the rest of its cakes too by using Trehalose sugar – less than half the sweetness of regular sugar – for selected cakes. While the rolls aren’t the most flavourful, I liked that it was smooth and moist. And the best part is, you can get them at 20% off (original price $17.90) throughout the month of July!
