For decades, the story of Hachiko, a loyal dog waiting for its deceased owner for 9 years, has brought many of us to tears.
On 12th June, a similar story surfaced on the group Cháo Hành Miễn Phí – a tale that has captured a pet’s longing to be reunited with its beloved owner.
The post tells the story of a cat who sits at the gate waiting for its owner every day, even though he passed away 5 months ago.
On 12th June, an emotional post on Facebook group Cháo Hành Miễn Phí by Facebook user Nguyễn Hồ Mỹ Duyên, shared the amazing and true story of her cat.
According to the OP, the cat belonged to her brother who died 5 months ago. Before his death, the cat had a habit of waiting for him to return home at around 5PM on a daily basis.
150 days have passed since the owner’s death. But the cat still perches on the back of his scooter every afternoon, precisely when its beloved owner usually showed up.
She described that it kept looking at the gate in anticipation, patiently waiting for the appearance of someone who will sadly never return home.
“The cat and scooter are still there, but the owner will never return,” shared Nguyễn.
Since the post went live, it has garnered 7,700 likes at the time of writing. Most comments involve praising the cat’s loyalty, or netizens recounting similar stories.

Facebook user Pham Thanhh Thu, who happens to be a pet owner herself, commented, “My cat also has a habit of waiting for me like this. When I stay up late, my cat will signal me to go to bed with it. When I return home, it will climb the window and meow at me from a distance.”

“Just like my late uncle’s cat. When he died, it guarded his altar all the time.” Facebook user Phạm Trần Hồng Phát wrote.
Any pet owner can testify that pets are capable of unconditional love and emotional support. When we’re down, they give us a lick on the hand to comfort us. When we’re home, they dash to the door with upright tails and perky ears to greet us.
Because of the inseparable bond that they share with us when we’re still around, to see us gone from their lives is quite unimaginable.
May the feline friend in the story find peace in this time of sorrow, and may it continue basking in the love from the family of her late owner.
