Tourists often think of Đà Nẵng and Hội An as one destination as the two locations are less than an hour’s drive from one another, but if you live here long enough, you’ll see that the active lifestyle of Đà Nẵng is very different from Hội An’s archaic vibe.
And when Đà Nẵng residents grow tired of the hustle and bustle, XIU Café is where many retreat to for a taste of the ancient town’s laid back charm.
The venue boasts two rows of antique-looking houses separated by a stone path. Lanterns hanging between the buildings further add to the feeling that you’re actually on a Hội An street.

The interiors have also been designed to look like actual ancient houses with old-school furniture and traditional paintings.

On hot summer days, order one of XIU’s many juices such as orange or pineapple (VND39,000, ~USD1.68) to whisk the heat away. Pair your drink with a pack of sunflower seeds (VND20,000, ~USD0.86), and you’re set for an entire afternoon just chilling with friends.

Image credit: 43 Factory Coffee Roaster
43 Factory gives off the impression of a greenhouse with a tree growing through the building and clear glass walls on all sides. This allows for plenty of sunlight for a flattering shot, as well as a view of the streets outside.
But what most customers remember the café for is its outdoor space, where you’ll get to enjoy your coffee in a koi fish pond. Not next to the pond, not on the pond – in it! Sitting in booths built into the pond, you can watch the koi fish swim by almost at eye level and even reach out to them if you like.

43 Factory’s drink menu consists exclusively of Arabica coffee which comes from several farms around the world so you can sample the subtle variations in taste. Each drink comes at a rather hefty price of VND85,000 (~USD3.65), but it’s more than worth it for the unique experience.

Image credit: Devis Coconut Cafe in Danang
Perhaps you’ve seen photos of the surreal Cafe Yeonnam-dong 239-20 in South Korea with black-and-white interiors that make the entire space look straight out of a cartoon. Devi’s Coconut Café is its long-lost Vietnamese cousin.
Image credit: Devis Coconut Cafe in Danang
The place still features the same minimalistic designs, but for a local take on the 2D cartoon concept, the owner has decorated the walls with murals of notable landmarks around Đà Nẵng.
From this depiction of the Golden Bridge of Bà Nà Hills, which in real life offers a stunning view from the top of a mountain to the valley below…
… to a sketch of the ancient town of Hội An, featuring the iconic Thu Bồn River.
And while common sense might dictate that you get the Devi’s Coconut Coffee (VND55,000, ~USD2.37) at Devi’s Coconut Café, we instead opted for the Devi’s Dalgona Coffee (VND55,000, ~USD2.37) and found ourselves pleasantly surprised. The coffee comes with cream and brown sugar sprinkled on top for a sip that’s not too strong.

Goblin Café is a familiar name among Đà Nẵng Instagrammers, and for good reason. The chic décor here has given birth to many a jaw-dropping shot over the years.
Image credit: Trần Thị Thủy Triều
The café boasts a lovely outdoor space adorned by windows, lampposts, and even a telephone booth to make it look like a European street corner.
Meanwhile, the centerpiece of the indoor design is no doubt this birdcage next to a giant clock, which no customer could resist snapping a shot of.

For drinks, we recommend trying out Vietnam’s famed egg coffee (VND45,000, ~USD1.94) here. While the taste is quite different from egg coffee in Hanoi, where the recipe originated, Goblin’s offering is a creamy, delicious delight in its own right. The coffee comes in a small cup separate from the egg cream, so if you’re trying to cut down on your caffeine intake, feel free to pour in however much coffee you want.

Occupying a compact 3 floors connected by a wood-and-steel staircase, Wonderlust is surprisingly airy and spacious compared to other Instagram-worthy cafes in Đà Nẵng.

With white being the dominant tone, brilliant lighting, and cute little plants and paintings here and there, you can’t really go wrong with a shot here.

At the top floor is an outdoor seating area where you can look through the treetops down to the streets below. On a cool evening, this is an ideal place to catch a refreshing breeze.

You’ll also find here a multitude of shops offering clothes, handbags, and plenty of other accessories for sale.
Drink-wise, we were impressed by the coconut coffee (VND52,000, ~USD2.24), though if you are not much of a coffee drinker, the milk foam (VND52,000, ~USD2.24) is another solid option. Additionally, Wonderlust also serves up some pretty mean chocolate mousse (VND45,000, ~USD1.94) as well.

Image credit: Aroi Dessert Cafe – 114 Ngô Văn Sở
Aroi Dessert Café is a known presence in several Vietnamese cities, but its Đà Nẵng outlet on Ngô Văn Sở Street is one that has captured a lot of attention from local youths of late.
And once you take a look at the place, it is easy to understand why. The venue has an impressive façade with multiple balconies decorated by lush green plants, making it a real head-turner.

The spacious interior doesn’t disappoint either, featuring wood-clad walls and floors that give off a warm, welcoming ambiance. Don’t leave without a picture with the lovely swing underneath vines hanging from a balcony.

Alternatively, go for a shot from the balcony looking down at the streets below.

Aroi’s menu offers expansive options for both foods and drinks. You can try the trendy upside-down beer (VND45,000) to see what the fuss is all about. Get it with Aroi’s signature bear cake (VND35,000) for a nice afternoon dessert that also looks awesome in pictures.

For a change of pace from all the modern-themed cafes, hit up Nam House for a trip down memory lane.
Designed with vintage 1970s Vietnam in mind, the café boasts an eclectic assemblage of antique furniture that’ll leave you feel like you’ve stepped through a portal to the past.
You’ll find here no shortage of old TVs, cassettes, and rotary phones to take pictures with. The intentionally dimmed lighting, low wooden stools, and worn brick walls serve to complete the atmosphere.
And in line with the retro vibes, we’d say go for the basic milk coffee (VND17,000, ~USD0.73). The simplicity of the drink goes well with the vintage theme, and the warm, comforting coffee scent mixed with the sweetness of milk evoke a sense of nostalgia.

Just a few minutes away from the beach is Cloud Garden Coffee – a quiet Japanese-style garden café that makes for the perfect place to spend a relaxing morning away from all the city rush.
True to its name, Cloud Garden is always bustling with life and greenery, featuring stone paths weaving through a koi pond surrounded by flowering shrubs. The verdant background goes best with a warm photo filter.
For a shot to bring in those likes on your social feed, pose next to the pond with the koi, or underneath the vines hanging from the walls.

And since green is the dominant color here, you might as well order a matcha freeze (VND45,000, ~USD1.94) to go ton-sur-ton with the surroundings. The slight bitterness of the matcha powder helps keep the sweetness in check for a tasty cuppa.

Tucked away in a quiet street far from the city center, Dream House Coffee is a treat for visitors who venture beyond Đà Nẵng’s touristy areas.

Past the gate with its cute little mailbox, you’ll find yourself on a pleasant-looking lawn with a stone path leading up to the café. The one-story building looks like a peaceful suburb house with bougainvillea vines hanging from the roof.

Visit during a bright day when the sunlight brings out the vibrance of the grass for a flattering shot.

Note that the dogs here, while friendly, are rather shy and are not fond of sudden contact. Don’t approach them too eagerly or they might react quite strongly.

Drinks here are much cheaper than what you see in the city center. A bạc xỉu – Vietnamese coffee with extra milk – comes at a mere VND18,000 (~USD0.77), which is a steal compared to the usual VND30,000 (~USD1.29) in most other places.

With an expansive area spanning 3 floors, Grand T Coffee offers plenty of photoshoot opportunities for shutter-happy folks.

Pose with the elegant décor that makes Grand T deserve a spot among Instagram-worthy cafes in Đà Nẵng – such as birdcages hanging from the ceiling, sparkling white walls adorned by framed pictures and murals, and plants that add some green to the space.
There is no shortage of options when it comes to foods and drinks either. For a healthy bite, try Grand T’s signature smoothie bowl (VND49,000, ~USD2.11), where fruits are served with cereal on a yogurt base. You can choose from different fruit flavors such as mango and strawberries.
