Simply Toys is a popular store, located in Plaza Singapura and Raffles Xchange, known for its Toy collectables and pop art cultured toys in Singapore. It provides a wide range of Toys and collectables ranging from Marvel and DC figures and merchandises to Lego Sets and Funko bobbleheads.
Lucky for me the amount is small and I decided to cancel it and move on.
Preorder with simply toys at your own risk!
Sales staff were pretty friendly. Even if you're embarrassed about the idea of reserving something at a toy shop, this is a judgement-free zone full of staff who really know their work. There's a discount if you're a member, which might be a good investment if you see yourself coming back frequently.
While I can't speak for the other toys, the POP vinyl figurines are the obvious standouts - there's a floor-to-ceiling shelf full of those, all organised by fandom. They're a bit expensive, but I shelled out $17.90 for a figurine with no regrets. (He had a little sniper rifle! It was adorable!)
Simply Toys is definitely a store after a pop culture geek's hearts, their POP figurine collections extended to almost every fandom out there, even the more "obscure" ones such as the Avengers fandom, the Walking Dead fandom, and the best of all... THE SUPERNATURAL FANDOM. (I am detecting a hint of reasonably-priced bias here) If you are out of cash and need some time to scrounge up that last ten dollars to buy that Loki figurine, but afraid that it would be swiped by the time you came back? Just reserve it at the counter! The sales staff are very friendly and helpful and will help you reserve your merchandise for up to 3 days, more than enough time to go pocket looting in your old jeans to find some extra cash. There is also a helpful record book where you can write down the merchandise that is currently not in stock in the shop and have them give you a call when the shipment arrives.
I suppose the only thing that can be slightly putting off would be that the POP vinyl figurines are on the pricier side of $17.90 a figurine, my wallet cried tears of blood when I could't bear to separate two of the figurines and had to buy them together in the end. However, once you become a member, the price for each figurine will drop to $14.30!
Overall, I would advise all pop-culture fanatics to come take a browse at the shop. Even if you can't buy anything, it is always nice to see your favourite characters shrunk down to the an adorable palm-sized.
It has an extensive range of collectibles and this makes my heart sing for so many reasons. If you're a fan of movies and comics, this is definitely a place for you. Movie replicas are available here, so if you're ever looking to expand your collection - if you have one - this is a place I'd recommend.
The only beef I have with this place is that everything is kept in display cases. Sometimes it's hard to look at everything since different items might be in the way, and it's troublesome to wait for the store assistants to open the cabinets to either shift obstacles out of the way or take out what it is you want to see. Then again, I can understand why the displays are the way they are - sometimes customers might mishandle the collectibles and once broken, it's considered sold. It won't do the store well if a customer refuses to pay, and it's going to burn a large hole in the perpetrator's wallet. Ouch.
Aside from that, though, it's a good place to visit if you enjoy admiring collectibles and rare movie replicas. Pricey, but totally worth it if you're into the stuff you're seeing there.
Someone then recommended me to this place and indeed i was blown away with the array of collectibles and memorabilia's available. From figurines to bobble heads of different characters. You can find items from the Disney brand, DC and Marvel comics and many more. You can even spot prop replicas from big hit movies such as the Lord of the Rings.
You can approach the friendly staff should you have any enquiries or searching for that particular collectors item you have been dying to get hold off. They are a helpful bunch and they sure made my visit worth while.
Other than that, Lego lovers should also visit this shop as there are plenty of lego items could be found here. However, mostly the price are too expensive. You could also find the spare parts for Lego at the drawers ( in Plaza Singapura Branch). Not much and too overpriced. One small piece of spare part can cost you up to $6.
Aside from that, the packed collectible items are stored inside the glass display shelves. Here comes the inconvenience. As they are locked inside, many times you can't see the price and you have to call out to one of the staffs for their help. If the shop is too crowded and the staffs are busy, it will be quite frustrating to wait only to know the price.
I would usually come to this shop only for window shopping as I am not any toys collector.
If you intend to shop for anything from this shop, come down during weekdays or off peak period. It is quite pleasant to shop here when there is not many shoppers around as the staffs are free and could help you quickly.
