If you go in the afternoon, you will be able to order from the set lunches, which are friendly to the pocket. However, there are limited choices as to what mains you can have, and the soup of the day is largely random. Should you decide to order something apart from the set lunches, you will be met with a large variety of choices. Even for a plate of aglio olio, you have the freedom to choose which toppings you would prefer, for an additional price of course.
Bakerzin is well-known for their dessert and cakes, so you'll probably be tempted to stay for dessert. I especially love their range of cheesecakes, with different flavours to satisfy different tastebuds.
Bakerzin is definitely a choice location to dine at if you are looking for a cozy ambience, delectable food and to satisfy your craving for something sweet all at the same time!
The taste is also rich and flavourful, and although the prices are high, it is worth every penny as you get a full sense of satisfaction from every bite. During closing, they also pack their cakes into boxes and tie them sweetly with a ribbon, unlike some bakeries which simply leave their cakes exposed in the freezer. This is a lot of effort for cakes which have to be displayed again the next day. Bakerzin definitely puts a lot of effort into taking care of their lovely products and maintaining a good reputation for the bakery.
I recommend Bakerzin, especially for special occasions as even a small piece of cake says a lot about the person’s intentions. It is also a great place to simply chill out and treat yourself to an enjoyable, delectable, sweet and delightful treat after a long day’s work.
I love dining at Bakerzin as well. The other time i was there a year ago, I ordered their mushroom soup as well as crayfish pasta. Their mushroom soup tastes like authentic Italian mushroom soup - creamy with bits of fresh mushroom. Their crayfish pasta was pretty impressive as well! The tomato sauce had the taste of real tomatoes and not canned pasta sauce.
However, dining at Bakerzin is really pricey. I would recommend customers to buy their cakes instead of their main courses as their cakes are their signature!
I have dined at their cafes a number of times and have always left satisfied. I like how their pasta is served piping hot and not too oily in just the right amount. They are also very generous with their ingredients. For example, if you order pasta with mushrooms, you can expect a bowl laden with them.
Their cafes have a comfortable and relaxing environment. This is especially so if you are lucky enough to secure a plush cushion seat. Their staff are also always polite and presentable.
And of course, after your main course, it would be a shame to leave without trying something from their dessert menu. I highly recommend their Sweet Pleasure cake. This piece of heaven is rich, crunchy and tastes like bliss.
Overall, I was really satisfied with my dining experience and will be back for more!
The menu has gone through some changes, but thankfully my staunch favorites of Bratwurst Linguine with Balsamic Vinegar and Japanese Pork belly rice have remained. The Bratwurst linguine combines the smoky flavour from the German sausages with a subtle mix of sweet/spicy/sour from the chili and balsamic.
The pork belly rice is simple. Japanese rice, pork belly simmered in dark sauce and done to tender perfection. Garnished with coriander - which cuts through the fatty taste from the pork - this simple yet delicious dish somehow gives me the impression that they have a grandmother cooking this dish at the back in the kitchen.
Don't forget about the dessert either, Bakerzin's lauded forte. The Chocolate Amer ranks as one of my all-time favorites
Ambience at Bakerzin is designed to look rustic and welcoming, with comfortable furniture, clean lines, high ceilings, and natural lighting. I like that staff at Bakerzin take the trouble to decorate the outlet according to seasonal themes in Singapore, especially for various festivals / celebrations.
Service at Bakerzin is decent. Staff are friendly and polite, and able to carry conversations. Bakerzin staff will accomodate certain change requests as well. I did feel they look slightly rushed at times. Good service, suitable enough for a cafe / bakery, but not memorable or outstanding.
Breads, pastries and desserts are the highlight at Bakerzin. Their bakery churns out freshly made products daily, and part of the appeal is being able to see the chefs / bakers at work. Flavours are superb, and prices are very reasonable for the quality you get. The menu in their cafe is rather limited, focusing more on sandwiches and pasta dishes, but the same high quality comes through in their food. Excellent, and I would highly recommend dining at Bakerzin!
The signature Bamboo Charcoal Bun With Pork Floss has a dark hued skin as a result of squid ink being used. The topping of pork floss is generous and tasty, and the overall taste of this bun is slightly different enough from other pork floss buns, which makes it stand out.
They have the sexiest looking Blueberry Danish I've ever seen! A crispy and flaky pastry diamond sits beneath a generous topping of fresh blueberries and custard, held together with a thin layer of jelly. Really good!
The creatively named Spicy Bloody Mary Soup is essentially a rich and thick tomato soup, with a slightly spicy kick from chili, granished with fresh herbs. While I loved the soup, I hated the square bowl it was served in, which made consuming it with a round spoon very difficult, as it leaves a lot of the soup stuck in the corners and sides.
The Mushroom Penne has a nice al-dente bite, and it's well coated with the savoury cream sauce. The trio of fresh field button mushrooms, shitake mushrooms and oyster mushrooms lend a meaty and earthy taste to the dish, while the cheese is sufficient enough to hold it together without being cloying or too thick. Excellent!
The signature Warm Chocolate Cake is absolutely lovely. An inviting chocolate cake that is moist and warm inside with chocolate that oozes out when cut into, topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and garnished with fresh strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and a strawberry sauce. Decadent, but I just couldn't stop eating it!
The price was just not worth it to me. $16.90 for just a normal Aglio Olio which tasted average? It just does not make me any happier. Yes,there is free flow bread but I was not convinced because I know that Bakerzin is famous for their pastry and they should just stick to that instead. None of their meal greatly surprised me and I can get a even better tasting(& cheaper too) at Astons at only $7 anytime. Their macaroons are nice, so is their cakes. Their mushroom soup tasted too creamy and I know that they are trying to make their mushroom soup to be like a somewhat high classed above the normal ones but it upset my palette greatly.
It is still a great place to chill over coffee and cake but have your meal somewhere else please.
The crayfish were tiny and the flesh was paltry. The pasta sauce was a very ordinary tomato sauce, and a bit too watery for my liking. I'm not sure the chef seriously considered whether the sauce went well with the crayfish, because I didn't think they paired well. Neither my companion nor I finished our pasta.
In my opinion, Bakerzin should stick to what they do best - cakes. I've had a few of their chocolate cakes before, and they are all very good.
Other than the dessert we also had the linguine with mushroom in cream. It’s nothing worth gushing about but I have to say that I was glad that it didn’t leave me feeling nauseated like how I usually feel after one whole plate of creamy pasta, the mushrooms again were juicy and fresh and the linguine smooth, tangy but cooked to optimum.
In my opinion, cakes at Bakerzin are too pretty to be eaten! All the slices of cakes look like they have been exquisitely baked.
My favourite has got to be their Chocolate Amer and warm chocolate cake! Just thinking about this makes me salivates! The warm chocolate cakes ooz out thick warm chocolate lava and together with a vanilia ice cream, IT’S A PERFECT MATCH!
As for the chocolate Amer, it is actually made up of different tiers of chocolate mousse and chocolate sponge cake. Definitely one of the best chocolate cakes I’ve tried. The size is just right for 1 person and it is not overly sweet unlike typical chocolate cakes which can make your throat feels uncomfortable after eating.
I went to Bakerzin at Jurong Point, and the service staff was pretty professional. The staff may look young but they were well versed with their menu and had a smile when they greeted and attended to me.
But i was not that impressed by their main courses. I ordered their mushroom soup and their aglio olio. The mushroom soup had a very dark brown colour to it, and it did scared me a bit as i was not expected such a dark colour for the soup. The soup also had a rather thick layer of oil over it. In terms of taste, it did felt rich and i can feel bits of mushrooms in it, but i find the taste too oily and does not have much of a mushroom taste for me and there is a tinge of sourness. i do not really recommend this.
For the aglio olio, it was simply spicy spicy and spicy. This is definitely not for those who cannot tolerate spicy stuff. I now aglio olio is fried with some small chilli, but i was not expecting the whole chilli in it. The pasta is also a bit undercooked in some parts. A rather average dish in my opinion.
