Javier’s Rotisserie & Salad Bar
Javier's Rotisserie & Salad Bar is located at the basement of Orchard Cineleisure. Javier's Rotisserie offers tender rotisserie chicken and a bountiful spread of salads sides. Their meat items consist of grilled fish, honey bourbon ribs and their famous roasted chicken. Unlike usual salad bars, which offer you only a range of greens, this 3-meter-long salad bar provides a healthy (and not so healthy) variety of warm and cold salads, an assortment of salad dressings, pasta and rice choices as well.
For diners who want a healthy and hearty meal before or after their movie, or for the calorie-counters who desire a healthy meal of greens and low carbs, Javier's is definitely the place to go for the freshness of their offerings.
I still remember taking a huge plate from the counter and piling it up with food all the way to the brim: from spaghetti to garlic bread to their delectable onion rings. The best part? Everyone is doing the same thing. Being a picky eater for salad, their salad bar allows me to design my very own salad to my liking. This platter is indeed heaven on earth. How can anyone not like this tantalizing goodness? My favourite picks are always the salad with a tinge of salad dressing topped with corn, egg, and a generous helping of potato salad at the side.
Being first-time customers, we were pretty unsure about the way the restaurant worked. Thankfully, the staff was pretty helpful and warm (and they explained the ordering process to us despite the fact that we were kind of holding up the queue), so thumbs up for the good service!
At Javier's you get a dinner plate on which you are supposed to pile as much food as you can eat onto it. Although this is somewhat similar to a buffet, it's different in the sense that the salad bar isn't free flow and customers only get to pile food on their plate only once. Definitely a refreshing take to typical buffets.
The main dish at Javier's is relatively average. I tried the chicken baked rice, and it was pretty good, though nothing near fantastic. The rice had just the right amount of cheese without being too dry or too sickening. Although the chicken could have been a little more tender, for the mere price of only $5.90, I'm certainly not complaining about the baked rice!
I find that their signature items, the chicken and ribs are not really that special-tasting, rather, I find them ordinary. But the other items like pasta, potato salad, different types of garden salads, wedges, etc all taste simple and fulfilling.
Definitely recommended for couples looking to share a plate or for daredevils looking to to gorge themselves!
One fill-e-plate can easily be sufficient for 2 or 3 people to share – definitely a place to go to, especially when on a tight budget.
