Mojo is the latest lounge added to Singapore’s list of nightspots to see and be seen. Atop the second floor of a shop-house at Club Street, this sexy new baroque-styled lounge is transporting a piece of Chinatown’s past headfirst into the decadence of the twenty-first century. Clad in funky glass chandeliers and luxurious bling-ed out lounge chairs to sink into, mojo is the perfect setting for chilling out into the wee hours. The name Mojo has various meanings depending on the context. It can refer to someone’s sexual charisma, popularised by the Austin Powers movie series. Other meanings also include magic spells, voodoo, or even a concoction of various hard-liquors.
I came here for a friend's 21st and I thought it's a young people's place at first but I was very wrong. The crowd here, besides the group of us, are pretty aged. They are well-suited business men and well-preserved older ladies. Everyone here is comfortable in their booths and completely ignoring everyone else so thank god no one bothered much with us.
I didn't know what I was drinking half the time but the waiters and waitresses were very polite, serving drinks after drinks and clearing the table right after we're done. This place will start to look a little intimidating after you get tipsy (or is it just me?) but god it's a luxurious place to be at.
Come here for a sight of a lifetime.
