Forever 21 is a clothing line which first opened in 1984 and then branched out worldwide to UK, Europe and Asia. Filled with a variety of men's and women's clothes and accessories, they managed to open three branches in Singapore. Their products range from casual, formal and intimate clothes, to accessories such as bags, jewelry and shoes.
However, I find that recently the physical stores have been quite disappointing. The quality of the clothes they produce has dropped. It's thin and feels like it would wear out easily. As for the design, they still keep up with current trends, like styles or prints, but some of it has become too common and generic to be appealing anymore. The prices have also increased even though the quality has not.
Once in awhile, there are a few pieces that catch my eye but now, more often than not, I browse for around 10 minutes before leaving. The online store has many more items available, and if you purchase it via spree, it is often cheaper too.
The designs sold by Forever 21 are getting too mainstream and perhaps due to the increased customer pool, I can easily pick out someone with the same top I own at least once a day. For us girls, you know it's not cool anymore to be wearing similar-looking tops. ):
The prices have also increased a fair bit since their opening quite sometime back. Most of their designs, I can find them online at a cheaper rate. There are also more to choose from and therefore more unique!
I do love that they have everything under one roof: Apparels, Shoes, Accessories etc.
However, I would only purchase those that I think its worth my money. I try my best to not used the product so often or else, it will either shrink or expand despite following the washing instructions.
As for the accessories, I do find them a bargain especially when the tags are in pink instead of the yellow tag. The pink ones can be as low as $3 for a pair of earrings or a ring. Some of the necklaces are as low as $5! Perfect for little gifts if you have a low budget.
They are so affordable! For most of them only anyways, there're some that're really pretty, but just crazily over-priced, in my pov that is. I really love the arrangement of the things there, which allows yours truly to have fun picking through all the trinkets littered across all the counters. It literally feels like I'm at a flea, just with air-condition and that bit more class. I only ever do purchase bangles, bracelets, rings and earrings though. I wouldn't dabble with their necklaces cos they all look so brittle and fragile. Which they actually really are. I've seen them fall apart with a mere tug. But if you're looking for mere fun, especially with those below $10, they'd make great. And you can probably use the remnants to diy your own accessories too! (YouTube tutorials teach you everything.)
I don't really buy much of their clothes. The quality doesn't seem all that impressive for the price they ask for. And designs aren't exactly unique.. Service ain't fantastic if you're one who likes helpful staff. But if you're brusque like me when it comes to shopping, it's perfectly fine by me. Except if they judge you at the cashier, which has happened before. Otherwise, go for their accessories (just not the necklaces...)! ^_^
While I did spot a few good buys, most of the dresses were far too short! They barely brushed my upper thigh. I'm about 168cm and I would wear their dresses as shirts. Their shorts were also exceedingly lacking in fabric. I personally did not get anything from the store but my friends did pick up a maxi dress that cost about $21.
The service is not very consistent, when we first entered, our queries about the sizes available were brushed aside by a group of chattering salesladies. We left. When we returned again (my friend decided she really liked the dress), the lady at the counter went as far to stripping a mannequin to get a size. That was lovely of her!
However, I don't think I'll be returning anytime soon.
Forever 21 can get pretty crowded during weekends and waiting time for the fitting room can amount up to 15 minutes. So, it will be more advisable to shop at F21 during the weekdays.
Most clothes range from around 20-40 dollars or so, and most of them follow the latest runway trends. If you are ever in need of a fix to get some affordable clothes, this is indeed the place for you. For students, there is even a 10 percent discount for purchases on weekdays. This is definitely an irresistible deal that you cannot miss out!
Forever 21 seems to be just another store, albeit a very large one. It lacks its own distinctive style and character. A good place to purchase basics due to its affordability, but I would move on to other stores to purchase everything else,
