You’re probably familiar with our monthly series of new & fun things to do (check out June’s!), but in honour of Youth Day, we’re making a special July version for youths!
For all the youngsters out there, this is your month. It’s time to appreciate being young and energetic and free and broke. Here are 10 things for you to do this July:
We can’t all go overseas, but you need a break once in a while. And while posh hotels are the go-to place for staycations, they can burn a hole in your pocket. For an alternative experience that is just as fun, try a shophouse, villa or an Airbnb apartment.
It’s possible to have a staycation for less than $200, and if you call up a few friends to hang out with you, it’ll be a lot cheaper!
Check out our staycation recommendations for under $200 here.

Keeping fit is important, but where and when is the problem. My colleague keeps recommending us to join her on Kickboxing Mondays, Zumba Tuesdays and Hip Hop Wednesdays – free workout sessions at the Star Vista. It’s no joke, she says, you can really work up a sweat and it’s fun to boot. If you’re a fitness junkie or looking for a more enjoyable way to exercise, this one’s for you!
Check out the website for more details.
Venue: The Star Vista, 1 Vista Exchange Green, 138617
Dates & Times: Until 31 December 2015, Mondays – Thursdays, 7.30pm
No need to lepak one corner, you can catch a free movie and hang out with all your friends. Even though we get student-priced movie tickets, it’s a different experience watching a movie in a public space. You can hang out with your friends, lean back on a picnic mat and munch on tidbits. It’s a great way to unwind and did I mention it’s free?
Check out MovieMob’s Facebook page for updates.
It’s good to be young. If anyone asks why you need so many clothes, it’s because you’re still growing! For all of us on a budget, the Great Singapore Sale is the perfect time to snatch major steals and shop upscale brands at a lower price. It’s been ongoing for a month, but don’t worry, you still have the whole of July to shop to your heart’s delight.

For the lucky university kids who are on holiday, there’s no better place to enjoy a beach holiday than Bali. For the rest, there’s a long holiday over Hari Raya Puasa for a quick overseas trip. If not Bali, there are many other regional locations you can get to with cheap tickets offered by budget airlines.
Other than hitting the beach or checking out the many temples, there are so many exciting activities that you never knew you could do. Switch up your itinerary and see the world through new eyes!
Check out our travel log here and stay tuned for our exciting Bali articles.
